Filter showing Incorrect Status

I have created a Plan across multiply projects.  I just want to view issues with the statuses In Progress which i have selected in the filter, however this is showing Backlog Items also.

Hello Julie,

The tickets that you're seeing in status BACKLOG are part of a parent issue that is in status IN PROGRESS.

To make that filter work out, you need to un-check the option "Show full hierarchy".
