How can the space key format (regex) be changed?

Martin N. Ségur Cabanac June 25, 2012

Hi,

we use Confluence spaces for projects (connected to JIRA projects). In JIRA, it is possible to change the project code format through regex. Can this also be done in Confluence? Our project code format contains dash ('-') characters, but Confluence per default doesn't allow them in space keys.

Thanks,

Martin.

Hi Martin.

The space key cannot be changed (more info in Editing Space Details).

Also, the key can only contain letters and numbers (more info in Setting up a New Global Space).

I know, too bad. I'm using the space key together with CustomWare's reporting and scaffolding plugins as a key to use in sql queries to automatically display information from several databases on a "Dashboard" page per project. All the PMs need to do is copy a template space and enter the project code as space key.

As a workaround, we now use lower-case "x" instead of "-" in the space key and replace it with "-" in the sql queries to return the correct data. Dirty solution, but works.
