Method to flag users expected to respond to a comment

Mike Applegate March 21, 2012

We encourage all dev communication to occur via Jira. However, sometimes comments going back and forth get delayed if the person that should respond forget to do so or did not realize a response was required. Is there any method when commenting to also add some sort of flag so that we know who is expected to respond? e.g. waiting for response from design team or waiting for response from Mike. I noticed Atlassian support and most support systems have a similar flag.

I know we can do it by adding a custom field and then edit the item when we comment but ideally this would be possible when clicking the comment button. Perhaps utilizing the @mentions feature? Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

Yeah, the first option would be using @mentions on the comment.

Though, to call the attention of someone you can change the asignee to that person, so it will always be on the person's issues dashboard.

Cheers!
