Any Workarounds to do Permissions by Issue Type?

KeriB February 2, 2012

Hello,

We are really wanting to implement permissions based on the issue type, (I.E. only PMs can create/edit stories, only Developers can create dev sub-tasks, etc) and I'm struggling to find a way to do this. I've seen this issue https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-5865 regarding this, where Atlassian answered that it's not something they're going to pursue due to wanting to keep JIRA simple. I'm in the process of reading through the comments to look for plugins/workarounds but wanted to check here and see if anybody has any as well.

Thanks!

Not really. You can do a lot of permission based stuff by using workflows, which can be different by project and issue type, but that's not intuitive and has significant weaknesses.

For the rights to create issues of different types, see the recent conversation at https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/33259/permission-to-create-specific-issue-type?page=1#33270
