We want to move a subset of Jira project from a locally hosted Jira server v4.1.2#531 into OnDemand. How are we go about doing so?
It is going to take a bit of work, but we have the docs to take you through the process. The main idea is that you need to get everything all setup the way you want in a local test instance running JIRA 4.4.1.
To start the process, take a backup/export of your instance:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA044/Backing+Up+Data
Then you can download a free trial of v4.1.2 and import that file into it.
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRASTUDIO/Importing+Data
We are then outside of your production instance. Now would be the time to trim away everything you do not want in your on demand instance. You will also want to check the plugin policy and make any needed adjustments. Following that, you are going to need to upgrade this instance to v.4.4.1 https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA044/Upgrading+JIRA
Once everything looks great, take a new export, setup an OnDemand account and import your data:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Importing+Data
Of course, if you have any issues during the process, you can post your questions here or file a support request (and especially when dealing with OnDemand as you have less administrative access).
Is there other easier way to do the exporting via XML, I don't mind to have missing attachments.
