AppFusions' Google Analytics plugin for Confluence is a good way of tracking page views and displaying the resultys within Confluence - it also displays results for external websites too.

Atlassian blogged about it a couple of times:

Measure Your Wiki’s Activity with Google Analytics for Confluence and Report Confluence Activity Using Google Analytics in the Wiki

It's still fully supported despite no longer being listed in Atlassian's marketplace.

More details information on who is doing what (edit, view, delete, comment etc) can be found using Mixpanel Engagement Analytics for Confluence also by our friends at AppFusions.

Just something to note, if you're tracking usernames or user's actual names using Google Analytics, you could have your Google Analytics account suspended as it's against section 7 of Google's terms of service. David Simpson gives a robust explanation of this in his blogpost:

Identifying your users in Google Analytics while complying with section 7 of the terms of service

One more thing, beware adding tracking code to At the end of the HEAD if you're also using Zen Foundation - this doens't work as they disable that functionality. Stick your stuff At the end of the BODY instead.

@Thomas Alfred is correct in all the detail above. I'd like to reiterate the point about tracking usernames or user display names as it is extremely important -- if your Google Analytics implementation tracks usernames or user display names, you could have your Google Analytics account suspended as it's against section 7 of Google's ToS.

Too bad Atlassian doesn't delete SPAM for paid plugins from these forums.

Admins come here to find answers, not to go on a shopping spree.

And all those "Can't do it but here's a paid plugin" answers lead to even more rumors about how Atlassian refuse to address problems if there's paid plugins that fix them.

Just to throw one more into the hat. With 5.3 there is now a SQL table that tracks page hits by users. So, ifyou are on 5.3 and want to use SQL for this then that is a possibility too.

Hi, Davin.  Is the "SQL table that tracks page hits by users" still in Confluence 5.10.8?  If so, which table is it, by name?  Thanks for the intriguing lead, --K

Hi, Davin.  Is the "SQL table that tracks page hits by users" still in Confluence 6.1.3?  If so, which table is it, by name?  Thanks for the intriguing lead, --K

At the time I wrote that I misunderstood how the table worked. It doesn't really track hits.

There's plenty of info out there, but this is a good place to start:
