Adding custom fields to Log Work screen

David Jett August 13, 2013

Is it possible for a system administrator to add custom fields, such as a "work type" dropdown field to the log work screen in JIRA 4.3? Would like to be able to do queries on the type of work performed, and the time spent performing it.

it is not possible as of now in jira to add fields on log work screen, check this issue and vote up to implement this feature

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1780

another way is, you can create new transition something like "Update Worklog" and add required field on it.

Thanks for the link. Looks like my best option would be to create my own "Log Work" operation. Unfortunately, I don't have the plugin or programming expertise necessary to do that. Tempo plug-in could be a possibility, but don't know if I can get access to it, or if it is compatible with JIRA 4.3.

Tempo should work with JIRA 4.3. See here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/is.origo.jira.tempo-plugin/versions

v. 6.4.4.2 is compatible with JIRA 4.2 - 4.3.4
