Edit the Confluence "Not Permitted" Page, is this possible?

Gabriel January 13, 2013

I'd like to add a bit more form and function to the "Not Permitted" page. By default, when a user is navigated somewhere within Confluence that they do not have rights to access, they see this page. It's fairly basic with some plain text saying just that, not permitted.

Is there a way I could edit this?

I'm running v4.0.4.

Thanks!

Hi Gabriel,

This is possible by editing the Velocity Template for that page, which can be found in the following location: <confluence_install_directory>/confluence/pages/pagenotpermitted.vm

However, to do this you should first be familiar with Velocity Templates, (and of course please backup the template before editing it!), but hopefully this guide should at least get you started with this: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Customising+Site+and+Space+Layouts

All the best,
John

Anyone know if this is possible when running an Atlassian cloud instance?
