Controlling the visibility of issue types

Chaitanya Jagdale November 25, 2012

We have two issues types defined for a project (using the Issue Type Scheme) : Tasks and Observations

We want to define a role/group within the project that should be able to only Create and Edit issue type of type Tasks

E.g. Administrators should be able to create both Tasks and Observations

Project Manager should be able to create only Tasks

How do I control this access in JIRA?

Hi Chaitanya,

I am afraid that our requirement here may not be possible, since there's no permission option which allows us to control users ability to select certain issue types based on the their group/project role. At the moment, if a user is granted the Create Issue permission, then the user should be able to select all of the issue types defined in the issue type scheme for the project.

There's a related feature request been raised in our system, however the resolution of the request is set to be Won't Fix:

Though it's not much, I hope that the clarification on the matter helps.

Cheers.
