Welcome to the Atlassian Community! The backlog is very specifically intended for ranking your issues, so the standard and default sort order is "order by rank". You can have a backlog with a different sort order (as you say, edit the board filter), but if you do, then there's no way to rank the issues any more, so it…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Atlassian systems do not directly do 2-factor authentication, they plug into commonly used 2FA systems like Google Authentication, Duo, Authy, etc. Whilst the configuration of an Atlassian Account includes telling it what 2FA system it is going to use, the administration of that 2FA is…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! If you delete an issue (Epic) then it is gone, completely. (The standard recommendation is that you should never allow anyone to delete an issue. Invalidate it, move it to a status that means "needs no more attention", or even move it into a "trash" project, but never delete) You cannot…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Jira does not do this off-the-shelf. One of your administrators has set up an automation, listener, or post-function that does "if something happens to this issue, change the linked issue(s)". You will need to work out where that has been set up and change or remove it. There are a lot…

Ah, you mean "approval", not "validation". All Cloud apps are deployed via the marketplace, even private ones. You don't need to do anything outside your own testing if the app is only going to be available to you. But if it is to be listed on the marketplace publically (whether paid or free), then you need to get approval…

Hi Anders, There's no way to apply permissions to Epics separately to the rest of the issue types in their project, nor apply them to a child issue of theirs. Permissions are all done at the project level. The best you can do is what you've started to try to do. Create a new issue security scheme, or modify the existing…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! What do you mean by "validate"? What questions are you asking about an app that would need to be answered positively to pass your validation?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! What do you think you have to download? What URL is it giving you?

Ok, well, feel free to show them my explanation of what happened here. It very clearly has nothing to do with many tabs being open. It was purely because you didn't see that you had created a new independent workflow in another tab.
-
There are other things you can do, although almost all "other tools" will be covered by the doc Dave pointed you to. If you could tell us what the other tool is, we may be able to point you at something easier or quicker than the CSV import.

Hi Alby, You do not use Microsoft documents in Jira (DC or Cloud), they are separate pieces of software. I think you need to explain to us what you mean by "using a program in Jira". Do you mean "using a program (other than a browser) to view or update Jira"? Or maybe "open attachments from Jira issues in a program"? Or…

You could amend the code on your DC install (don't do that - it's complicated and as soon as you do it, you are unsupported). For Cloud, as I said already, you have no access to the code, but there are a few apps that allow you to make minor changes (mostly by adding panels or fields, not re-arranging the screens)

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Your subscription is for your service, not individuals, so it doesn't matter if you have a "low budget customer". You can invite anyone you want into your system. I have a number of Atlassian accounts, with varying subscription levels, but my cat has no subscriptions at all. You could…

Some people do not like lots of tabs, and struggle with the overload of things on-screen and distraction. Others work well with lots of tabs. I am one of them - to me, they're effectively a to-do list for my current screen-time. At the moment, I've got 20 community posts open to work through reading and maybe responding…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Jira's hierarchy is pretty much fixed. Sub-tasks are fragments of their parent base-level issue, not really independent issues. Base-level issues can be grouped into Epics, Epics can be grouped by higher layers, if you have access to Advanced planning. There are some apps that might be…

It's worth a test. If it's not that, then let us know! FWIW, I have the same problem with the Community here in one screen. I actually used that to remind myself whether it was <shift><del> or <shift><backspace> because I could not remember!

Hi Eric, This is surprisingly simple, but not at all obvious! The security level on an issue is held in a select-list field on the core of the issue. So you can use it in JQL. Because it's a system field, its name is a simple word rather than the display name of the field, but hey. Try: level is empty That will get you…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! I have not seen it with Jira specifically, but I have seen it with other web applications that have "suggested values in a drop-down based on stuff you have typed before" The trick I uncovered was to put the cursor over the entry that you do not want to see any more, either with the…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Dashboards show gadgets or widgets, not boards. But there are gadgets that can show you information that boards would show you too. Each gadget is independent of the others, so yes, you can use different data selections such as different projects on each one (or selections that include…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Which option are you wanting to get rid of?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! You are right in that you can get a developer licence from a licence, and you can use it for both Development and Pre-production. However, Server is going away in under 20 days (my memory is muttering "15th Feb")m and you have not been able to get new licences for it for over a year…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! The way Google Accounts work is that they create associate Atlassian accounts which are then logged into via Google. When you log into Trello, you're actually logging in via an Atlassian account, even though, in this case, it is going through Google. Get your member to log into Trello…

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! You can't do this. To assign an issue to someone, they have to have an account, and that means an email address that they have access to. This implies you might be able to create a shared account, but that is a really bad idea because it means you cannot track the issues properly, and…
-
That's actually one of the things Jira was written to get away from - compounded unique keys are clumsy legacy structures that cause more problems than they solve. Just include the issue type in your reporting!
-
But that would move all your stories up to the project level, which makes them useless.

Neither of the above will work. In the first one, you have not told Jira how to read the query, you've ignored the parentheses I put in my example. It has no choice but to read left to right. It's fine until you swap to the OR. Your query will execute up to or field1 = X, but then the rest of it is OR field2 OR field 3. So…

Yes, that's what I said. You will need to ask other users who the admins are. I'd start with the person who gave you the login, you had to ask for project admin rights, or who asked you to use Jira.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Are your "bug" issue types sub-task types? You can't swimlane sub-tasks out from under their parent issues.
-
"Complete" includes "we did some stuff (including maybe just reading it), but then decided we're not going to do any more work on it, so we've cancelled it. The cleanest way to do that in an issue tracker like Jira is move the issue through the workflow to "closed", and set a "reason we closed it" (resolution in Jira) to…

Hi Ulrich, The space directory will only display spaces you have the rights to view. Could that be hiding some spaces from you?
