As the board column are normally just a visual representations of statuses, it may be hard to trigger a field change if those columns are mapped to any statuses. If your organisation uses Scriptrunner, that may have a way of doing it. I will look into it though, without the use of Scriptrunner. Thanks Aaron.

Hey @arno What type of field is the custom field? And do you have a snippet of where it's used in your automation? Thanks, Aaron.
-
Hey @thumuluru.shreya Correct me if I am wrong but you are asking: Is there a way when a issue is transitioned, that there is a check for a linked issue of a certain issuetype and linotype? If it's correct you allow it to proceed, if not it's blocked from transitioning? Thanks Aaron.

Hey @Sandra Hugen Welcome to the community. To achieve what you want, without people at the very least creating their own customer accounts, is to set the project to "open". This allows anyone to raise a ticket to the desk, and I mean anyone. Thanks Aaron.
-
Hey @Jonathan Pisors You may be able to use an automation, with an API call to one of the endpoints for issue security/permission scheme. You can add {{webResponse.body}} to the audit log that way. You'd also have to run this on a scheduled trigger as there isn't a trigger for issue level security or permission scheme…

This guide would suggest so: https://support.atlassian.com/provisioning-users/docs/what-are-setup-options-for-provisioning-and-single-sign-on/

Hey @Keith Broome My organisation use Google as the identity manager for our Jira instance. The sync does exactly what you are thinking, when an account is created in Google, it will sync to Jira, here you can set policy for default access, groups, licensing etc. Thanks Aaron.

Hey @jessica_huebner This is a very interesting question, and I'm sure it can't be done directly from the create screen, it is possible using conditional formatting it Service Management forms. But I am assuming this is a software project? As you don't want to use any 3rd party app (I try not to use / suggest them either),…
-
So my first guess, is that the users will need to be customers of the service desk, assign them a service management customer license, and add them as customers to the service project. See if they opens up the drop-down for them. Thanks Aaron.
-
Hey @Stacey Bennell The behaviour of invited accounts, that won't be managed accounts is this: 1. invite user via email and give customer role. 2. User clicks invite link 3. User asked for name and password. That is all that should happen Then, in your access section of the project, you should add the customer group as a…

Hey @Tristian Gay I'm assuming the project in question is a JSM (Service Desk) Project? Aaron.

The max limits are pretty hard and fast. You can set character limits in forms that you make though. Any time you use one of the mentioned fields in a form, the panel on the right allows you to select minimum and maximum character limits for that field. 👍🏼

Hey @Sue Hannan Without having to make a number of API calls you could do a couple of things off the top of my head. 1. JQL: "name of field" IS NOT EMPTY - this will return all tickets where the field has been used. If it's not too many you could count the different project keys. 2. If you go to the "work items" section…
-
Hey @Wanderson Martins The maximum characters I'm a short field is 255, and paragraph (multi-line) is about 30,000. Thanks Aaron.
-
Hey @İclal Aslan It would be very difficult to achieve this solely in Jira, the looping functionality and pagination might be a blocker. But, this is achievable via a python script or using a platform like Tines. Thanks Aaron.
-
Ah I see, so you want the column to dictate what enters that custom field? Almost like a status mapping to each column?
-
Hey @Anna Luszcak I decided to take this on as a mental exercise as @Bill Sheboy is correct there isn't much you can do with folders at the minute. However, I did get something working, but it's not "pretty" Hight level it's this: Create a page via API Create a page variable from the webResponse capturing the new page ID…
-
Hey @Steven Janvrin I'm using a cloud environment, but I feel it's similar there too. This is just my option but I would have thought this was introduced to combat the evolution of the way teams may want to work. I think the previous set up was once you've selected a project type, you were very much locked in. And if you…
-
Hey @Anna Luszcak This seems very interesting. Could you assist with a few screenshots? Mainly of the columns in use? Is this now, next, later also used for statuses of the epics? Or not? Thanks Aaron.
-
I've just had a look at there isn't a global setting for this, was pretty sure there would have been. But it would make sense there wouldn't be seeing as over project types have a way to do this granularly. Sorry.
-
Hey @Paul Treadwell I'm sure for business projects the only way to do this would be on a global level, which would obviously effect your entire instance As you've touched on you can set calendars in other types of project. Thanks Aaron.
-
Hey @Sara Wortman I've tried to replicate the issue with no success. My advice would be to strip that filter back to just the project name and see what affect that has on the error. Let me know what happens. Would be good to see. Thanks Aaron.
-
Hey @Thushan Nirasha You need to reconstruct the new URL using {cloudid} instead of your instances name. An easy way to find the cloud ID is by going to admin.atlassian.com and picking your instance. The ID will then be in the URL. I hope this helps Thanks Aaron.
-
Ah sounds like you've got it nailed on. Well done. And you are very welcome.
-
Sounds like you've covered everything I'd ask. You'd need some actual Atlassian support here I think. Best of luck.
-
Hmmm ok 😅. When the issues come in from the special incident email into the desk, what are the key differences between them? Is there a possibility that the summary can contain the system name as part of the alert?
-
Hey @Skyler Dockery (Halo Studios) This link will be handy: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v2/api-group-groups/#api-rest-api-2-group-member-get It'll show you the scopes you will need to give your API token for the service account. Let me know if you run into further troubles. If you do post some…

It would, if that field is locked down to one project, it would not get dragged into liberal JQL searches, dashboard reporting etc. One field on its own might not be noticeable in terms of performance but if you have over 6000 custom fields (Like some instances I know of) it would certainly rack up the load. And it makes…
-
Hey @Daniel Garcia One reason to restrict a custom field to a project is to ensure the data collected by that field is from one project only. This can make reporting from that field easier, especially if you have a large instance. You'd know where they field is used ensuring any data is related to that one project. Any…

Hey @syed You could use and automation that triggers on sprint complete, that will add the sprint name to a label field. So say "Story1" spills over from "Sprint1" you could have label field called "Original Sprint" which accepts the name of the sprint the story was from. And if that story spills over again you could have…
