@Clare Lawson added a gif to the original post. Great call!

Haha definitely not intended to be ominous. Let me try again: Folders are purely additive and give users another way to organize their content. If folders don't make sense for your use-case, you will certainly be able to continue using parent pages. Or, you can use both!
-
@Kristian Klima Thanks for the response! To this point: "One of the reasons I hate dislike git-based CMS tools is the inability of most, if not all, to have a parent page with meaningful content :)" This is precisely why we are still allowing users to create parent pages. Folders is simply an alternative for those cases…

Hey @Rob Geritano — would you be willing to share more on a call? If you would, please schedule any time that's convenient for you here. If you've gone too much going on, then mind describing here what you'd have expected to see in a knowledge base space?
-
Would love to chat with you to learn more @Shelley Montreuil if you're willing! Schedule any time that's convenient for you here. Also, could you send an example of this from another space: > I just spent two days trying to figure out why I can't create a space anymore that allows me to automagically paste important links…

@Shelley Montreuil @Barbara Szczesniak @Mikael Sandberg @Daniel Prado Rodriguez and anyone else who is interested: Would love to chat with you about your experience with the new space creation flow! Schedule any time that's convenient for you here.
-
@Amanda Barber @Andy Gladstone @Luz Long and anyone else who sees this post: Would love to chat with you about you about the new space creation experience. Feel free to book any time on my calendar here.

Hi all — “space templates” were simply a preconfigured collection of page templates. Usage data consistently showed that since adding space templates a few years ago, far more users started creating blank spaces, and very few users actually ended up using the page templates that were automatically created upon space…
-
Yep — @Mikael Sandberg nailed it. We're testing out a new space creation experience. @Daniel Prado Rodriguez out of curiosity, what did you like about the space templates? Were there specific page templates you used? If so, those templates are still available — here's how to access them:

Thanks again for reporting! This should be fixed by end of day tomorrow.
-
Hey Janice — my name's Ned and I'm a product manager on Confluence. Thanks for finding this bug! We're working on fixing it now, and I'll update you here once we have a fix in place.
-
@Andy Gladstone — nope, the screenshot is just meant to clear up any ambiguity about what I mean when I say "Space Overview."
-
@Hopkins, Kenyon thanks! If you were to design the ideal container within a space, how would it differ from what exists today (parent pages)?
-
WOW! Thanks for the incredible response. I'm slated to chat with 12 folks over the next two weeks, so closing my calendar for now, but will definitely reach back out for more feedback in the future. I'm continually in awe of this community and all of your passion for improving Atlassian products. THANK YOU! Ned

Thank you! Maybe a silly question, but what's the problem with users creating a lot of spaces? Is it just that creating lots of spaces makes finding content a lot harder? Or is there another problem?
-
Thank you! In your mind, when is creating a space the right thing to do? For what purposes does a new space make sense?
-
@Barbara Szczesniak & @Andy Gladstone thanks to your help, we've gotten to the bottom of it: We're pretty sure this is a Windows problem (please let me know if either of you is NOT using Windows). We're working on a fix. Stay tuned, and thanks again for bringing this to my attention!
-
Yep, understood that the scroll icons are what Andy was referring to. We are unable to reproduce this within Atlassian. @Barbara Szczesniak can you confirm that you are seeing this as well? Are you and @Andy Gladstone using any marketplace apps or browser extensions?
-
@Andy Gladstone thanks for reporting. We’re unable to reproduce this error after multiple attempts. Is there any chance you have an extension or something that could be the culprit?
-
Nice, thanks for the feedback, @Ivan Lima!
-
Got it — thanks for the clarification. Looking forward to your feedback once you get access!
-
@Andy Gladstone thanks for the feedback! Responses in line: > personally I use the [Your Space] shortcut from the profile section on the home page A LOT. This will be something that I know I will miss. Can it be listed at the top of the starred spaces on the left pane? Appreciate the suggestion here; we'll definitely take…
