@Rachel Wright It was great seeing you at Summit! We have to wait a *whole* year for the next one :(
-
@Stephen Sifers I love your comment about Vit C & B. I am going to add that to my Conference packing list! Totally catching up for missed time with those buddies this week, and it is making a real difference now. Absolutely should have been doing that during!

@Jimmy Seddon Hi! Its great to meet you! Sounds like you had a fantastic time at Summit as well! I think I might have caught back up on my sleep. So much to see and do. I look forward to checking out some of your Answers and Discussion posts soon.

Hi @Lachlan ! Check out this Map! It has pins for the Locations that have User Groups https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/embed?mid=1DbpJrtRhz2LRXJGEn94h15wAuOc&ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=37.73596900000011%2C-116.015625&spn=142.029142%2C360&z=2&output=embed You can also see all of the Active Groups at https://aug.atlassian.com/…

@Andy - PTC Redundant We have had sponsorship from local offices and partners in past years. We didn't seek it out this year, and just used our AUG budget.
-
@Jack Brickey I second those feelings! There are so many incredible people in this Community. I took a few days to post my bit in slack, just cause it was so much to process. <3 you all.
-
It's always great to hear that you are on the right track!

Hi @Andy - PTC Redundant We hold one event a year, that is our Social event. We plan this around our AUG-iversary. (when we started our AUG) We have our event at an old school arcade. We allow attendees a drink from the bar, encouraging the happy hour specials and order pizza and/or chicken for the attendees. I also bring…

Hi @Corey_Tabb This is a really good question! You will get a better answer if you open this as a full question within the Community. The questions here were posted to be asked as part of a live panel of Community Leaders about being Community Leaders and their experiences in that role.

@Ollie Guan 1. Great Question. What I did was try to attend other Meetups that might have people who would use the Atlassian Products. DevOps/SecOps meetups and BA meetups have been my usual focus, with the occasional AWS and Kubernetes meetups. Posts to LinkedIn and reaching out to some of the larger recruitment firms…

I am not quite sure what you mean by extended the product. I've had people from other departments approach me about using Jira or Confluence for their teams. Confluence is fairly easy to open up to teams beyond a development team, and in my previous position was used widely across the environment, including as the…

I try to have event topics that have been proposed by my members, either as something they want to learn about or something they are willing to speak about. Its pretty informal, in that I just ask people what they are interested in or listen for conversations that sound like they would like to know more about a topic,…

@Partha Mandayam Hi! If I were looking for a direct way that being a community champion has helped me in my career, I don't think that I would be able to find an example. However, it has helped me in many indirect ways. I get a chance to be exposed to a lot more environments, problems, answers, ways of working than I would…

@Jan-Peter Rusch We do some App recommendations at our meetings, but only when there is a problem that one of our members is trying to solve, or when we do a pressentation on App & Best Practices. For the Apps & Best Practices, we talk about the Market Place and some of the larger use Apps. We will also have presentations…

So I've done some crazy stuff with them, just so that I could get use to using them. I'm an admin for the tools, but didn't really have a good way to use them, and building out a full Jira project, just to track my own work (in the days before Trello!), didn't really help, since I was going to have to track it across three…
-
@Kathy Hart I have to tell you, I adore your profile pic! <3 Puss-in-boots! I can tell you a bit about what worked for us. We went with Tuesday evenings and the second one of the month, because that didn't conflict with our schedules and hoped that it wouldn't conflict with others. There is something going on every night…

@LarryBrock It does take a lot of support from those around me. My partner and Co-AUG Leader have really been a great help with the heavy lifting. Literally. I couldn't do half of what I do with out that support. The keeping the sanity part....I'm pretty sure I lost that some years ago :D

Our Breakfasts run an 1:30, with a very short program, to allow for as much group discussion time as possible. I have to shoo them out the door sometimes :) The Evening events run 2:00. I try to keep at presentations 45 minutes to an Hour with time for questions. We have some that have one presentation and some that have…
-
@Jan-Peter Rusch & @Dileep_Bhat I try to crowd source the topics at much as possible. I also try to make sure that I have a few Tools Agnostic talks thrown in. Usually around CI/CD, Testing&QA, and Agile Methodologies, with tie ins to the Atlassian Tools that can help with each of these areas. I try to balance the Tools,…

@Jack Brickey 1. This is really challenging, and before the start of the User Groups in the Community, nearly impossible. I would do as much as I could with newsletters, but that is a single direction of communication. We also tried a stint with the LinkedIn groups, but it wasn't a user friendly experience to maintain. I…

Hi @Thomas Schlegel & @Meg Holbrook Much like @Tinker Fadoua I do not have an agreement with my employer. All the work I do on here is on my own time, though both my previous employer and current employer will work with my schedule when I am working with the Columbus User Group, either leaving work early for our evening…

It was great to see folks! I hope you can make it out to the next one!

*deactivated password access for the root user Absolutely do this! The best way is to only allow su to root, and limit programs with root access.
-
Thanks @Stephen Sifers ! I glad you enjoyed this article. Do you have anything you do to help keep yourself at your best during the long Summit days?
-
Your poem brought a smile, you presences missed by miles. *grins* I can't poem. So a one liner is all you get. :) will tell you all about our adventures soon.
-
I am really excited for the copy/past too! Now if working on mobile also wasn't quite so cumbersome? Someday maybe :) Nice header too!
-
@Greg Sprowls It was great having you out here for Summit! I know you had a great time. :D
-
Confluence will be my 3rd too. But will take it *after* Summit!

Love the idea of merging accounts, but it needs to be really easy to unmerge too, and it needs to *only* apply to Community. I have *cough* a lot of Atlassian accounts, for reasons. I do not want them related to me on the Community and would like to be able to decouple them if I need to remove them or change my email…
