@roam_scott I too am having some 'usability' growing pains with the new design, specifically with the moving between project admin and system admin. Configuring Custom Fields and Setting up Screens, checking my work, testing issue creation. It seems really cumbersome at the moment. I'm not sure if this is just because I am…

@Mari Car If you have a different workflow for that issue type, you can set the issue level security as a post function on the create transition. That would apply that security level to that specific issue type. This will only apply to issue level security defined by project role, however. Example from the Workflow Post…

My biggest recommendation would be to step up to that upgrade, and not try jumping. There are some underlying changes to the Database that go easier if you do incremental upgrades. We had some major issues with upgrading from 5.8.5 to the 7.X, and had to roll back and go to 6.4 first. We still had to make changes to our…

@Gerry Claps Great ideas. I have read though * JIRA Strategy Admin Workbook by Rachel Wright but not * Jira 7 Administration Cookbook by Patrick Li Been pulling together a reading list from other and what is published, with good review, on Amazon. I do think that having instances to play with is quite important.

Having access to both types of environments is extreamly helpful. I know some folks have a developer instance for that, and I have a small teams license for Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket. Its really nice to have a sandbox to create projects based on the study scenarios from the Official Training.

@Thomas Schlegel This is a really neat Idea! I love it! Especially Day 3 :D

Thanks Tom! I am always on the look out for new book recommendations. I find that a lot of times I really do learn better with the printed word, and the structured format of books. I'm especially fond of the format and styles of writing for most of the O'Reilly books. Good to see they are keeping this one updated, and the…

Nope! It's grown for animal feed and biofuel production. When I was a kid it was mainly for animal feed, but biofuel is now nearing 50%.

Great insight @miikhy! Good luck on your next cert! I totally agree with networking with others to discuss real world scenarios and definitely going in relaxed! I too have read through Rachel's book. Great resource, cert study or not. You're not going to be able to do your best if your brain can't unlock. Can't wait to…

I just remembered one, on my drive to my folks place for thanksgiving. I thought all of the corn grown was for people to eat, and that it was just so sad that something caused the farmers to not be able to harvest it all before it went bad. Now I know that corn is grown for many things, and it's left to dry out on purpose.…

Having this exact issue with IE 11 Version: 11.0.9600.18838 No additional browser extensions or addons installed. Happens within the cloud instances, atlassian sites (id.atlassian.com, community.atlassian.com, etc) and from the Atlassian page that displays when you try to log into an instance with the wrong account, that…

For many years, wouldn't tell anyone when it was, it was just too disappointing to have everyone forget about it anyway. I always did something quietly, that I wanted to do. Go horseback riding, or hiking, or a movie etc These days, facebook had outted my secret date, and I get all the Happy Birthday Wishes. I still try to…

Just about every morning, is a walk over to Tim Hortons for coffee with one of my team. Not that I'm a big fan of Tim Hortons, but they are in walking distance. Fridays are Starbucks "fruffy expensive espresso" drink days. When I'm at home, its tea....lots of tea. ALL THE TEA !!! Herbals and Fruits for the evening and Earl…

*sigh* my heart aches for a real NZ flat white.....the states have finally caught up with the civilized world, but it still isn't the same. Also miss having ginger slice with it.

Fun reading has taken a back seat lately, as I study for certs, So it's been a lot of Jira Admin books, papers, blogs, etc. But I'm about due for some light reading, which means I need to pick back up the YA reading and finish the Series of Unfortunate Events books. :-) They are wonderfully dark and yet light reads all at…

I totally have!

@pb Tractor Supply is your shop then!

I am walking the dogs. I have the household as a Jira ticket for task and enter static or long term information like distance from home or office. I currently track the date and type of visit, as a comment on the ticket, but contemplating adding them as sub-tasks
-
I am building out a Jira to track my dog walking that is booked through the Rover app.

Seems I am a little sideways..... but why wouldn't you take a selfie with giant metal chichens? (rockon)

Hey John, You could created a new Status called Backlog and place it before ToDo in the workflow. All new created issues would be in Status Backlog then. You would have to transition them to from Backlog to ToDo then.
-
@Janet Buckley You will need to install Confluence seperatly from JIRA. It is a stand alone application that can be linked to JIRA once you have them both up and running. We even have them both running on the same server for our QA environment, thought I really would not recommend that for a Production environment. See…

Awesome! thanks Monique!

As an AUG leader I certainly +1 that suggestion!

Thomas, Thanks for clarifying, I would have to say that you are correct then, in that it isn't possible to create a custom create project screen. The line about wanting to add a date picker field, made me want to think that maybe Alexandra had used the wrong terms and meant issue rather than project.
-
If you want to change the screens that are associated with an issue type, that gets somewhat more tricky, but it is possible and is done within the Administration section under Issue type screen schemes and Screen schemes. Atlassian documentation for this is found here:…

Hi Alexandra, These instruction make an assumption that you are on Server and at least 7.1. They may work for Cloud or other versions, but I cannot verify that. You can add more fields to a screen, like a data picker. You have to create or make sure you have a field that you want to use first. Check you Custom fields and…
