Ah, I gotcha - back when Jira Align was an independent product (AgileCraft) the Story object was created very intentionally and tried to avoid being too vague (instead of just a description, the product wanted to encourage users to actually put the story there). Then, and still today, Jira Align connects to Jira (and other…

Hi @sachin gangam ! Great question! I can't speak to if it was part of the original design choice, but I can say that the design works as intended because the story itself is a little longer than the title. A story is structure and looks something like "As a <user> I want to <do this thing> so that <accomplish a goal>)" -…

Hi @Theresa Doris ! Manage Ideation Users (External Users) requires that the user have the ability to Add/Delete Products in Jira Align (not ideal if you're not using the product functionality, but unfortunately it is tied to that set of toggles). Check out this help page (second paragraph):…

Hi @Karl Pfeiffer! Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately I don't think we'd be able to troubleshoot this very well on community (based on what you shared, it definitely looks like it could be a bug). I'd recommend submitting a support ticket to: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ This way a support engineer could help…

Also, if you're a Jira Data Center user, the new Flexible terminology functionality can help do this same thing: https://www.atlassian.com/blog/jira-software/flexible-terminology-for-jira-data-center

Great questions @Aline Chapman ! If you're using Jira Cloud you can easily do this. When you go into Jira Admin > Issues > Issue Types you can simply rename the Epic issue type to Feature. The one nuance with this that I have found is that it doesn't change the name of the Epic Link and Epic Name custom fields in Jira.…

Fantastic article @Philipp Barry and great insight into how normalization plays into the usage of Jira Align (especially from a financials perspective). Another good community article to check out is on the Estimation Conversion functionality and how it impacts the rollup of things like story points in Jira Align. Applying…

Oh good! Apologies that we didn't get back to you sooner on Community. I'm glad you were able to get an answer :-)

Hi @Derwin Roland ! To double check, are you using the Time Tracking module of Jira Align, or something else (e.g. Tempo Time)? In terms of Jira Align Time Tracking, unfortunately time entered does not roll up to impact spend totals on the Investment vs Spent report (previously called Investment vs Actuals). The values…

That's a great idea! I don't believe that's possible today, but a great enhancement opportunity. Honestly, the only way I think of to give you a view of Backlog priority and the Program Board at the same time would be to have two browser windows up next to each other...one on the Feature Backlog and the other on the…
-
Hi @Vera du Preez ! Great question! There isn't a specific way to view priority of the Feature Backlog while viewing the Program Board. The Program Board is more about execution planning vs. priority (e.g. if it made the cut for the upcoming Quarter / PI, our focus shifts from what's the Backlog Priority to how do we most…

@Gyanendra K Gupta - Great question! If you cancel a Feature in Jira Align, you need to make sure that the canceled state in Jira Align is mapped to the canceled status in Jira (as part of the Jira <> Jira Align integration). To double check that the integration is in place, in Jira Align go to... 1. Administration > Jira…

@Vinay Sharma - this is why I recommend story team assignment changes (in mass) be done in Jira...Jira Align can be finicky here using the Mass Move functionality. You are correct that sprints will help associate work with teams, but work not associated with a sprint (Scrum Team backlogs and Kanban Teams) are done one of…
-
To add onto what Philipp shared, from my experience here's what I would recommend: * Changing Team Assignment: Do this in Jira with a bulk move...much easier to do in Jira than Jira Align (the only way to do this in Jira Align is through mass import). * Changing PI on Stories: If stories don't have a Feature/Jira Epic…

Hi @Patrick Kramer ! Thanks for reaching out! I'll reach out to the Atlassian team and have them reach out to you. Apologies for the delay.
-
@allen - looks like you need help with Jira (vs Jira Align) based on your scenario / screenshot. Couple options for next steps... * Ask your question in the Jira space on community: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira/ct-p/jira * Submit a Support Ticket (it looks like you might have found a…

I pinged our team again @Andries Becker - if you don't hear back by tomorrow please let me know :-)
-
Hi @Jamie Lefkovics ! Thank you for the note and I apologize for your experience so far :-( I've reached out to the internal team within Atlassian with your inquiry so they can reach out to you. To provide you with some quick answers - Jira Align licenses run for a full year at a minimum of 30 licenses. Launchpad is a…

@Andries Becker - I'll check in with our team and someone will be reaching out shortly. Apologies for the delay!
-
@Vinay Sharma - in regards to dependency management, when you change a team from a "Agile Team" in Jira Align to a "Kanban Team" the Need By and Committed By dates will change to a date picker (vs selecting an anchor sprint). Here's what happens based on which team is changed... * Requesting team is changed to a Kanban…

@Andries Becker - Thanks for reaching out! If you go to the following site and click the "Get in touch" button, an Atlassian team member will reach out to you to talk about Jira Align, licensing, and a demo: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/align#contact One thing to note - I believe the minimum license count that…

To build on what Vinay mentioned, if you move the Feature to a project that is not integrated in Jira Align, the issue will still show up in Jira Align (won't be automatically removed) - you'll need to manually delete/cancel it in Jira Align (make sure that check the issue in Jira after you do this because there is…
-
@Bonnie Beyer - there's feature toggle that allows you to use WSJF with another sizing methodology (which is useful because WSJF is more of a prioritization technique). Without the toggle you'll have to pick between T-Shirt sizing or WSJF. If you submit a request to Atlassian Support they can turn this toggle on so that…
-
@Bonnie Beyer - I see what you're asking now :-) Yes, this is one of the exceptions, though you will need to do a couple things. First, in Jira Align Admin > Jira Settings > Jira Setup tab, make sure the option "Story Creation Requires Team" is set to YES (this will make the team field required in Jira Align on Stories,…
-
@Bonnie Beyer - sure can! In Jira go to Settings > Issues > View Field Configuration. Once on this page find the custom field you use for team. Once here you can mark the fields as "Required" (see screenshot). Hope this helps!

Ah! I see. Make sure that the Program Increments (PIs) you want available are part of the parent object (looks like the Epic is Aggregation). The PIs available to be selected are only those PIs associated with the parent Epic. If you add additional PIs to the Epic you should see them appear in the Program Increment field.
-
@sachin gangam - which view can your Product Manager not update the Program Increment on? Is the work item itself? If you can send a screenshot that would help us troubleshoot :-)
-
Hi @sachin gangam ! For the System Role assigned to the RTEs, make sure that the "Estimation" toggle is on under the TEAM > Manage section (it has to be on at the team level to allow access to the page, even though it's program level functionality).
-
Hi @radhika ! How far back Jira Align will sync sprints is controlled by the “Initial Data Load Start Date” field at the bottom of the Jira Setup tab (Administration > Jira Settings page > Jira Setup tab). Go to this page and change the date to the latest date you would like to sync sprints back to (e.g. 01/01/2021) and it…
-
Hi @Diane Raber! Great question! My thought here is that in scenario 2, Jira Align is intentionally keeping the dates to avoid wiping out dates for customers if they had been using dates in Jira prior and nothing is populated in Jira Align. I'm curious...if you had the same setup as scenario 2 (no dates in Jira Align, date…
