Please see here, the workaround (that I suggest) might be useful: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-63388

This is a known Jira bug. See link below. It also includes a workaround that I am using: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-63388 Amir

This is a known Jira bug. I have suggested a workaround which is mentioned in the bug. The bug happens on Jira server, but I assume that same code is used for CSV import on Jira cloud as well. See here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-63388 Regards, Amir

Updated export method for Confluence 6.4.0: Prerequisite - permission * Navigate to the desired space * In the bottom of the navigation pane (left side), click on Space tools (the gear icon) * Click on the Permissions tab * Make sure that you have export permission on the space, either for the group that you belong to, or…

The link provided by @Daniel Wester is titled JIRA Server platform REST API reference and indeed, there is no API to get list of all custom fields.

Here is an update of what I did (albeit bit kludgy): * Exported a single issue from the existing project to a CSV file, CSV-1. Issue key is FOO-9500. * Exported first 500 issues - FOO-1 to FOO-500 to file CSV-2. * Created a new project on target server which is identical to the existing project. * Used system import via…

Thanks to both @[deleted] @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-. Touching the database is out of the question in my organization, so I will tackle the problem differently. The approach is: * freeze the source project (make it read-only) * export all 10k issues via JSON * perform import into the target project * open the target project…

There is a set of ROLE APIs. One of them (GET) is used to get all the roles and the ID of each: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/?_ga=2.160847869.1154825308.1547392536-665427180.1519729030#api-api-3-role-get

it's indeed a bug, but at least we have a workaround (ugly, manual)

Well, sometimes one needs to RTFM! In the ScriptRunner documentation, under the Limitations section (link below), they clearly state: On the View Issue screen, trying to edit a field with a behaviour will launch the edit issue screen, instead of the normal inline editor. Limitations We plan to submit a change request as…
-
Rachel, To your questions: 1. All these fields are present in the Edit screens. 2. When I hover over a selection field, a pencil icon appears. If the field does not have a Behaviour, the tooltip says Click to Edit. If the field has a Behaviour, the tooltip says Edit popup form enabled. 3. The only relevant add-on is…
-
@Thanos Batagiannis _Adaptavist_ is it possible to have both? I must have the Behaviour on the field (part of the business logic), but the lack of inline edit is a huge annoyance. Thanks

Just to let people know - due to the problems and complexity of exporting to multiple CSV files and then merging them together (since Jira limits a query to 1000 issues), I have switched to using JIRA REST-API to retrieve all the fields into multiple JSON files. If you need a CSV as the final outcome, this thread is still…
-
You must have missed the first part of my question where I listed the CSV route as the first option... Also, a downside of the CSV method is that you are limited to exporting up to 1000 results at a time (this is a Jira hard limit). My project has ~8100 issues, so I will have to run 9 subsequent queries (key >= foo-1 and…

@Daniel Kennedy I share your pain...regarding point #1, even if the add-on does the job right, it usually costs $$$, which may be sometimes 25% of what you are paying for the core Jira. BTW, Nick Brough, who called this an "edge case", is not from Atlassian, but from Adaptavist, who make the excellent ScriptRunner add-on.…

I have submitted a ticket to Atlassian support and they came back that it's a known bug: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-46365 Fortunately, the bug description suggests 2 workarounds. I tried the first one (do not check Map field value) and it works.

I have just realized that I may be trying to do something which is not supported. I re-read the section in the documentation about newlines (link is in my initial question) and noticed that it does not say that the embedded newlines will be preserved. All it says is this: >>>> Capturing data that spans multiple lines Use…

@Andy Heinzer As I said, I cannot change the encoding of either server. So I decided to check how the export+import works when done on the same server. I started with the destination server (Linux, encoding=ANSI_X3.4-1968). 1. I picked a single issue that has multiple newlines in the Description field. 2. I exported it to…

One more data point: When I perform the import from CSV, the last step before Begin Import shows me all the data in the input rows, by fields. For each field you see all the inputs for each row and how it each will be written to the output field. What I see in the input (for a field that has embedded CR/LF) is this (which…

@Andy Heinzer Thanks. Extremely helpful. More details: Source Jira is 6.4.11; Destination Jira is 7.11.2. At this moment I do not have access to the server logs on either server, but I do have access to the system details on both (Jira->Admin->System->System Info). I assume that whatever is shown in the log is reflected in…

@Joe Pitt Thanks, interesting idea. I will look into it.

Hi Max, We do use several add-ons, but JWT is not one of them. In any case, adding a global action on every issue create action (in all projects) seems like shooting a mouse with a cannon. And it will require buy-in from the corporate Jira gods, which it's not easy to get.
-
Still waiting for more answers, but in the meantime, the only idea I have now is to add a script listener on Create Issue event, and if a "bad" issue was created in this project, the listener will notify the project lead and/or admins and they will reprimand the reporter and then close/delete the issue. Since all reporters…
-
Max, Thanks, but as I said, those issue types use global workflows, so I cannot make any changes in the workflows.
-
The documentation says that import also supports the file:// protocol: See here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira061/jira-administrators-faq/usage-faq/how-to-import-attachment-using-csv I'm using server 7.11, but I assume that the process (which the above is for server 6.1) still works.

Just FYI - the checkbox mentioned above (Show transition in the customer portal) is only available when you're editing the workflow in Diagram mode. If, for some reason, you cannot select the transition in this mode (due to other transitions overlapping it), the solution is simple: * Switch to Text mode * Find the…

Jesus, Thanks a lot for your suggestions. Both are great for a new project. However, this is an existing project with ~800 issues in it. I did consider the cascading fiedd and rejected is because I have a lot of scripting code based on this field, so it would require rewrite of several groovy scripts (validators and…

Here's the official answer from the guys at Midori (developers of Better Excel Plugin for Jira): Hi Amir, This problem is related to Jira's behavior, not to our app's functionality. Please check these pages: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/column-order-when-exporting-a-filter-search-296913345.html Exporting column…

Looks good, thanks. I somehow missed that screen...
