Teamwork FOMO is real! I remember at one company I worked for how much there were coveted teams to be on. Even though the motivation to join those teams may have been the work focus, I don't think anyone wanted to join the unicorn teams who didn't also value the team culture and comaraderie.

I think celebrating your teammates only happens when your team works well together. So it makes total sense that "services" that positively affirm good teammate behavior would indicate a team that gels.

I remember first getting on Slack several years ago. Upon making some team composition changes and better defining swimlanes for each teammate, we started messaging each other without tagging individuals. I knew we were in our groove because people jumped in proactively, offering solutions or suggestions unprompted. I love…

@Anton Prokhozhy - @Mahreen Khan responds to this note at 15:15 in this video - https://www.linkedin.com/video/event/urn:li:ugcPost:6866492022082158592/.

This is our first wave, @Bill Sheboy. So no comparisons against other waves, but in the future, this won't be longitudinal where we survey the same respondents over time. But, we will sample representative groups with each wave so that we can chart the trends over time. @Mahreen Khan can speak to this more in her AMA (or…

Well that was an error on my part!!!! Thanks for checking, @Anita Kalmane I've updated the email to my work address.
-
I really like that the team rotates the responsibility of organizing this, @Sharon Tan Sometimes mixing creative + hang time = "forced fun." In your team's case, it feels more like an extracurricular for those that want to the opportunity to "dream as a team." I like!
-
Love that, @Loïs Bégué . Tighter meetings counts and should be highlighted!
-
Just saw this article from The Atlantic. Timely! Though the article is taking the topic from a different perspective than I think you're going to go, @Walter Buggenhout.
-
You've still got a couple weeks, @Tinker Fadoua! Any articles or other messages shared during the month of November will be eligible for nomination :)
-
Thinking of yourselves as a team unit versus a bunch of individuals is key. Mmhmm.
-
Thanks for sharing this practice, @Ashley Faus! What's a variation or ProTip that you've seen work in your own spars? One technique I've liked in spars: "err on the side of asking questions when critiquing." It may be counterintuitive, but asking questions like "what are you trying to communicate in this part of the…

@Walter Buggenhout I cannot wait for this series! Largely because I don't see this story often in parent/child relationships. I'm more familiar with kids reluctantly participating in things because they're told they have to. But for you soon to be self-motivated to improve? I can already feel the foreshadowing of the…

Welcome again @Hakeem Olasupo ! Looking forward not only to any questions you want to pose to the group + new ways of working you'd like to share, but I'm also interested in how you respond to other discussions already going on.

We've seen a ton of research recently on a substantial (not majority, but substantial) amount of individual contributors feeling like they aren't part of decision-making. And that they wish they could be. So "taking it to the team" is so lovely to see.
-
As a people pleaser by nature, I grapple with the conflict that often comes with doing what will make people happy (in the moment) and what I think is the right thing to do. There's so much intention we need to have, so much decision-making involved in working with others lol.

Active listening is one of those things that we love to experience on the receiving end but tend to do less when we're on the giving end. Something I need to focus on every day.
-
As much as we learn about our teammates, I think working with others also teaches me a lot about myself! Great reminder.
-
<3 This is basically my goodbye speech at the end of every company I've left. And then I proceed to tell everyone what I remember about them.
-
If you care about your team's performance, then you should care about your team's health.
-
Know what I love most about this, @Bridget? I've been on teams who share workstyle preferences (user manual Play) or rules of engagement (working agreements Play) or other things you've listed. But more often than not, we don't refer back to them. But, we don't update them. We don't change them as we change our personal…

If interested, the report is officially live - https://www.atlassian.com/blog/state-of-teams. Plop questions for Dr. Mahreen Khan on this page for the next week please and thank you!

Fair and a great point, @Anita Kalmane. This article isn't advocating to convert everything into meeting reduction, but rather, a way to celebrate operational changes intended to improve efficiency.
-
Absolutely, @Sedera Randria. Meetings are costly, so if you use them, they better be purposeful.
-
To your last point, I'm looking to see how we can share our own best practices more. If anyone has ideas on how to inspire this activity, holler!
-
I like that this practice brings people together to talk about non-work-specific topics without making the meeting be intended for that reason. Better for attendance ;)
-
"Dress your...inanimate object up in the best costume" is hilarious. As a child-less and pet-less teammate, this is a gamechanger!
-
I like two lies and one truth because it a) shares info but b) sparks convo that makes you learn even more about each person! I can't believe I forgot that one. Great reminder!
-
Documentary producer, in case y'all want to throw me a new career starter ;)

Love it. I'd secretly use that board to source gifs for texting friends hahah.
