Current Admin no longer works with our company

Question

I’d like to enquire whether it’s possible to transfer or update the admin permissions for our existing Trello workspace.

The current workspace admin is no longer with our company, and we’re unable to reactivate their email account to make the necessary changes.

Could you please advise if there’s an alternative way to transfer admin access to another team member?

@Corina Baltazar just to add to Matthew's reply, Atlassian has an official guide covering exactly this situation: Recover a Workspace or board when the admin is gone 📚

One important thing to mention is that Trello Support cannot directly change Workspace administrators for security reasons. 👈

Since you mentioned that reactivating the former administrator's email isn't possible, I'd suggest checking whether there are any other Workspace admins who could grant you access.

If that's not possible, the documentation also outlines alternatives, such as creating a new Workspace and moving or copying existing boards, depending on your permissions.

Trello Support can’t transfer Workspace admin permissions. If there’s no other admin and you can’t recover the former account, move your boards to a new Workspace.
