Hi community,
We’re rolling out a couple exciting improvements to make status updates in Goals and Projects easier to write and explore:
- Draft with Rovo in Goals: Start with a suggested update from Rovo instead of a blank page.
- Save draft in Goals: Save a draft, return to it, and refine it before publishing.
- Rovo update templates: Choose the structure Rovo follows when drafting an update in both Goals and Projects.
- Connected updates for Goals: See updates from linked work together, so you can understand the full picture in one view.
- Progress charts for success measures: View the progress trend of your success measures in a chart when reading and writing updates.
Draft with Rovo in Goals
To draft a goal status update, select “Draft with Rovo.” Rovo uses information from linked goals and work to suggest an update that includes:
- A suggested health status: On track, At risk, or Off track, based on success measures, sub-goals, and contributing projects. Rovo explains its reasoning, and you decide whether to use the suggestion.
- A TL;DR: A brief summary of where the goal stands.
- More detail: Specifics about key highlights, progress, risks, and decisions. The exact structure of what appears in the more details section will depend on the template you choose.
After a draft is generated, you’ll be prompted to provide feedback on the helpfulness and quality of the output. We monitor responses, so please let us what it did well and what needs improvement to help us make it better for you.
Save a draft and come back to it
You don’t have to finish a goal update in one sitting. Save a draft, return to it whenever you’re ready, edit it as often as you need, or discard it and start again.
If you’re waiting on information, you can write what you know now and finish the update later - without keeping a separate document or draft elsewhere.
Rovo update templates
When drafting with Rovo in Projects or Goals, you can now choose a template that matches the level of detail and structure your stakeholders need.
To choose a template, select the templates icon next to Draft with Rovo.
Projects has two templates:
- Delivery update: Report on recent activity, risks, blockers, and progress toward delivery. Use this to give stakeholders a clear view of the delivery status.
- This week, next week: Summarize recent updates and what’s planned next. Use this to show progress and set stakeholder expectations for the week ahead.
Goals also has two templates:
- High-level summary: Summarize progress, highlights, decisions, launches, and risks. Use this to give stakeholders a clear overview of the most important details.
- Key result rollup: Summarize progress, updates, and risks across all key results. Use this to give stakeholders a scannable overview of objective status.
Connected updates for Goals
Previously, getting the full picture of a goal’s progress meant opening each sub-goal, key result, and contributing project separately. The Connected updates panel brings updates from linked work into one view. It surfaces key results, sub-goals, and contributing projects so that you can understand the supporting context and dig deeper where needed.
Connected updates appear wherever you write or read updates: in the Updates tab, preview panels, and the status updates feed.
When writing an update, use the connected updates panel to see the context needed to write it.
When reading updates, the connected panel lets stakeholders drill down to details without leaving the view.
Progress charts for success measures
We’ve heard positive feedback on the chart visualisations in the Overview tab so we’ve also added the charts to the updates view. This allows you to see success measure trends while reading and writing status updates, making it easier to track progress at a glance.
Access and availability
We’ll roll out these changes to all customers progressively starting in October.
