Instructions

In products that support remote MCP servers, fill in https://mcp.atlassian.com/v1/sse as the server URL to create a connection.

Setting it up in Claude.ai

Go to https://claude.ai/settings/integrations to manage your Claude integrations.

If you are part of an organization, you may need your administrators to set up the integration before you can use it.

Click "Add integration".

Add our remote MCP server details. Please use https://mcp.atlassian.com/v1/sse as the server URL.

Go to "New Chat" in Claude and click “Connect” in the "Search and Tools" menu.

Select the Atlassian site you would like to access, review permissions and accept if everything looks right.

Back to "New Chat" in Claude, and select tools to use.

You are ready to go! Your Claude now has access to your Atlassian site through the tools you've selected.

EDIT: as far as I can tell, there is only one product this works with right now which is Claude Teams.

Firstly, many MCP clients like Cursor do not even support authorization with remote MCP servers yet. (authorization was only added to the MCP spec about a month ago).

But secondly if I try to use the mcp-remote community project to try to bridge that feature gap, e.g. to get Cursor connected, the authorization flow fails like so:

The redirect URI is not allowed, the URL is not part of Atlassian whitelisted domains for registered MCP Clients. 
Redirect URI http://127.0.0.1:3334/oauth/callback

This error message raises the question of what redirect URIs are whitelisted by Atlassian, and I suspect there is only one such callback -- the claude.ai callback, i.e. https://claude.ai/connect/atlassian/callback.

If so, that makes it difficult to use this with any product besides Claude Teams.

I configured the remote mcp in cursor like this:

However, the OAuth flow failed — is it because the remote server’s OAuth app doesn’t allow the redirect URL? I’m curious how this is expected to work for anyone if that’s the case.

As several others above, the MCP client fails to connect due to lack of token, and seems like standard Basic Auth that works with REST API won't work for MCP.

The 'normal' paid users doesn't seem to have this option and adding the MCP server in the conf file doesn't do anything really, says auth. failed, but doesn't come any window to authenticate or so.

Hi! We're building an AI agent that completes task across work apps; supports the most recent OAuth MCP protocols out of the box. It's been working smoothly with the most recent MCP remote servers launched, and we'd love for the Atlassian server to work well with it too.
