Hi,
welcome to the New to Jira group!
We would love to hear about you and also more about your "Jira situation" (if you're comfortable):
Thank you!
Hello everyone. My name is Tolulope V. Omotoso from Nigeria. I am new to Jira. I first heard of Jira some weeks back when I started my journey in Software Testing learning. I am looking forward to getting a good grasp of this robust reporting and organization software.
Welcome Tolu! I'm also on a journey to software testing and automation, hope you are enjoying the course.
Welcome to the community and the Atlassian ecosystem @Tolulope Omotoso !
Hi @Tolulope Omotoso and welcome to the community.
You can learn more about Jira by looking at discussions, articles and questions here, but also head over to Atlassian University for some free training courses
I am new to Jira. Looking forward for help from this community. I work on JIRA Service management. Struggling with preparing dashboards and reports. All I have is the available reports.
@Suman Panda hi and welcome!
Regarding the reporting, yeah - these native functionalities are quite limited I would say. We usually implement some Marketplace solutions when it comes to reporting, but if you're on Enterprise plan I would also suggest checking out Atlassian Analytics. 👀
I am not new to Jira, but am new to this group. Have been using and administering Confluence & Jira since 2016. Love the power and integration between the tools.
Welcome to the group @Ted Nieblas
Thank you for the welcome message.
I first heard and started using Jira in 2010. I used it for an year and later moved to another tool. My second stint with Jira started in 2018 and using it until now.
My current engagement with Jira cloud is entirely personal and it is with the purpose of learning more about Jira administration.
Once during a team discussion, it was commented that "Let's create a Jira issue for that story." One of the team member (new to Jira) went on and raised a ticket to the Jira admin team instead of creating an Jira issue (story) in the tool. The "Jira issue" term is still confusing to many beginners.
Welcome to the group and to the Community @Suneesh ! 👋
I can related with this:
The "Jira issue" term is still confusing to many beginners.
as it was quite confusing for me too when I first saw the tool (although, that's been a while back).
For all those who are just starting with Jira (and for experienced users as well), I would highly recommend checking out Atlassian University (e.g., Get the most out of Jira) as Learning team is doing great job when talking about onboarding content for end users and administrators. 🙌
Hello everybody, greetings from Brazil!
I'm an Agilist since 2014 and I've been studying the Kanban Method since 2018 and improving myself every year. I've been using Jira since May/2023.
Hi everyone! I've been using JIRA for 2 years now.
I started using Jira and Confluence in 2015 for plain task management and documentation.
In 2016 I started to use all the agile features as an Scrum Product Owner.
Welcome to the group @Fabio_Cabral
Welcome @Juli Bourgeois
Thank you for joining us @Mike Maurer
Hi, i´m new here. Working about 10 Years with Jira.
Hi @Kai Krause and welcome to the group!
Hello everybody! I am new to everything and here to learn, I started using Jira in 2024.
I am interested in using Tempo in Jira correctly for time reports. I don't know how funny it is but the first time I got a ticket assigned to me took me a very long time to find it and read it.
@Mathilde Waringo Welcome to the community. I do not use Tempo so I have no tips to offer. I am sure someone will provide you information soon as the Atlassian Community is awesome at assisting new members.
Welcome @Mathilde Waringo ! 👋
I don't know how funny it is but the first time I got a ticket assigned to me took me a very long time to find it and read it.
Hah yeah - people often find Jira 'all over the place' first time they see it (myself included 😅). But, if end-user experience is simplified as much as possible, it usually leads to users seeing benefits of the tool(s) quite quickly.
As for Tempo, they do have quite extensive documentation and video collection which helped me quite a lot whenever looking at some unknown features or basic 'how to use' guides.
My Jira journey began in 2023, two years ago, when I was about to graduate and looking for tools that would truly enhance my career. I stumbled upon Jira, which was completely new to me. Initially, I tried to avoid it, but once I got the hang of it, I couldn't resist myself from using it.
I also started exploring other tools offered by Atlassian, like Confluence, which turned out to be quite interesting!
HI @Shivam Sharma - Optimizory you'll find there are always new things to learn about Jira, Confluence, etc some of which you can pick up from articles and discussions here, but also take a look at Atlassian University for free courses
Our company started to use Jira about 2 years ago and we started using it very quickly. It took a few attempts to get all things right, but using Jira makes us do more work!
@Josef Žáček Welcome to the community!

Welcome @Janelle Lopp
I started using Jira and JSM a little over a year ago, working in Scrum. I think I'm most interested in gaining more knowledge about JSM at the moment. I find those projects much more challenging to work on.
Welcome @Bogna Krystian_Deviniti_

Hi @[deleted]Welcome to the Community
Welcome @[deleted]
Hey everyone! 👋
I first started using Jira in 2019 in a consulting role, helping teams implement and optimize their workflows. Since then, my journey with Jira has evolved from just configuring projects to developing custom Forge apps and delivering tailored solutions for complex use cases.
One of the funniest Jira moments I recall was a team that used an Epic titled ‘Fix App’ as a catch-all for everything they didn’t like about their setup. The Epic had over 1000+ tasks/sub-tasks, but no one dared to close it! 😆
Looking forward to connecting with you all and learning more about your Jira experiences!
Welcome @Akash Singh
I am just starting with CA as a Technical Support rep. I first learned JIRA around 2015 while working at Intuit. While I'm sure there will be differences here, I've found it to be a great system for escalation tickets, tracking status, and just overall documentations. Looking forward to learning new uses of it, and implementing it as more of a primary tool
Hi @Joshua Taylor and welcome to the community
Hi @Joshua Taylor ! Welcome
Hi everyone!
I'm starting to use Jira as one of the tools working with risk management in road construction projects in Norway. One of the projects already uses Jira, so that's why. Can't wait to learn it better, tips on where to find the most useful guides are welcome, I've found some on YouTube.
Hi @Egil Utseth Welcome! We're glad to have you here
Hi @Egil Utseth and welcome to the community.

I'm glad to be in this group because we have Jira, but as an end user, I utilize confluence much more than Jira. I'm looking forward to what I can learn about it.
Hi Everyone!
Thanks for having me in the group. I heard about Jira but never tried using it as a work tool. But yeah! who knows, there's always the first time and the right time! and I guess the time is right... now.
Cheers!!!
Hi everyone! 👋
I've been using Jira for a while now, and fun fact - every company I've worked at has used Jira in some way. It's been a constant in my professional journey, and I’ve really come to appreciate how flexible and powerful it is💡
Looking forward to learning more and connecting with others here! 😊
I started using Jira in around 2016 after RTC was retired and Confluence very recently in 2019. Since then I have been using them both to get my work done. I am still learning a lot about Jira from this community.
Hi! 👋
Welcome @Brita Moorus
I like the flexibility of Jira as well, but my old manager who left last month has joined a company where they have nothing like Jira, they're still back in the Excal for incident reporting age and he's now questioning his decision to move, at least we've still got Jira!
Welcome @Anwesha Pan

Thank you @Stephen_Lugton
Hello Everyone!!!
I am new here and excited to learn from the community.
I’ve only been using JIRA for 10 days. At first, I was super scared, but after taking a course from Atlassian, I felt a bit calmer. Now I’m using it actively and just trying to accept that there’s still a lot to learn (and I probably won’t catch everything, since things change so fast). But today I created my very first widget, and in that little moment of joy, I finally realized that JIRA isn’t scary at all
I used Jira in 2024 during my internship. We implemented a CRM software (Dynamic 365) for a logistic company to help build and manage sales and migrate existing customers into the new CRM. But since then, I have not gotten the opportunity to use it again. I will be glad to continue using it. I was really helpful and collaboration was easy with team. I love it. I'm open to learning too 👍
Hey there folks! I've been a Confluence Support Engineer for the past 5+ years now, and casually interacting with Jira for all kinds of integrations.
Hello everyone!
Hi @Jason U welcome to the community!
Hi folks, i am a newbie to Jira. Are people still using this community for any questions? Cheers, Clare
Hi @Clare Donovan ! Welcome to the community
Yes we are using this community for any questions!
Great! I am a fan of Trello and will see if Jira will be better than MS Planner for planning a project and adding tasks, dates etc.
Hi @Clare Donovan ,
You can also use Atlassian Learning to help you start off with Jira, for example:
Get the most out of Jira learning path
I started using JIRA in parallel with traditional project management tools such as Microsoft Project/ Server/Online, Planview, Clarity, and PWA. I am looking to expand my knowledge and skill set using JIRA for Agile, Scaled Agile Framework, and hybrid methodologies. Finally, I want to make sure using JIRA for the right projects and not only because it is what others use.
I am actually not so new to Jira since I use it 15+ years already, but learning something on Jira Cloud every day that is for sure something that I do recently - trying to catch up on all the new stuff..
