Why is our Network share not reachable after Bamboo upgrade?

We have recently updated our Bamboo install from 5.9.7 to 5.14 and then on to 6.6.3 and now cannot deploy as a network share that has been working for years has suddenly stopped being reachable, looking for any advice on what might have changed, ploughing through all the version notes is not ideal so thought I would ask the knowledgeable folks here for their advice.

Hey Dave,

There's nothing in particular application wise that comes to mind that's changed that could cause this but that's not to say it hasn't. A couple of questions:

• What exactly is the deploy task doing that can't access the network share? E.g. Is it a powershell script that's copying to a network location?
• Is your task referencing a UNC path or is it a mapped drive?
• What error is it giving? E.g Permission denied or does not exist?

One thing I highly recommend checking is that the user running you're Bamboo (especially if it's a service) as hasn't changed since the upgrade. It might have been running as a local user account before but when you reinstalled the Bamboo service after the upgrade it could now be running as the Local System Account which won't have access to any network shares. You can check that under Start > Run > services.msc > Atlassian Bamboo > Properties > Logon.
