Crucible / FishEye licensing questions

Our organization employs most of the Atlasssian Suite (Confluence, Bamboo, JIRA) and we are considering additional tools such as Crucible and FishEye. There are some license questions that are cropping up raising confusion over whether our organization requires a 1:1 ratio for JIRA and Crucible, and a similar 1:1 ratio for JIRA and FishEye.

It is a norm in most any organization that not all JIRA users are role relevant for activities such as code reviews, or have access to source code management repositories. As such, my expectation is that we should not require a 1:1 ratio for either Crucible nor FishEye to match our JIRA license seats. Rather the seat count should match users that are expected to participate in those activities on a regular basis.

Is this a correct assessment? Would appreciate a response as it helps with budgeting activities for next year.

Yes, I believe your assumption is valid, usually only people directly involved in software engineering (developers, perhaps QAs,etc.) would use FishEye/Crucible.

Hi Nadeem,

You do not need to match the licence numbers across Atlassian applications unless everyone has identical roles. So you can have different licence levels for each product according to business need.

Yes, you are correct. A FishEye user is by definition any user account in the FishEye system, there is no license requirement to JIRA. So, it would only be necessary to purchase a user tier for the users who will need access to FishEye.

There is a licensing connection between FishEye and Crucible. When using Crucible along with FishEye, the FishEye license needs have an equal or greater number of users in order to be compatible with Crucible.
