how can i create the needed jira user groups in crowd, plus how can i get the two applications to work together

I have read the documentation and i cant get the needed jira groups created in crowd.

The groups are not in our LDAP instance and I dont want them in our LDAP instance i want them only in crowd and i want crowd to manage the jira-user and jira-developers and jira- administrators and other needed groups. I need help on setting this up.

My understanding with crowd is that currently you cannot have local groups associated with an LDAP instance unless you use the delegate LDAP connection. The problem with the delegate approach is that no users are created until the user first logs in. See http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CROWD/Configuring+a+Delegated+Authentication+Directory

The request to be able to use local crowd groups against LDAP users is an open issue https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CWD-1284

IF you are only using JIRA or can use JIRA as your central user directory then you CAN use an LDAP connection for authorisation and users and use local JIRA groups. But this would mean taking crowd out of the mix so not sure if that is viable for you.
