Which JDBC driver for PostgreSQL 9.5 is needed by Crowd 3 when Java 8 is being used?

https://confluence.atlassian.com/crowd/postgresql-4030906.html describes JDBC drivers from a far away past when Apache Tomcat 5 or 6 were bundled with Crowd and the latest version of Java was 5 or 6 either.

Since some years Java 8 is out (and since some time Java 9 as well), the Apache foundation has released Tomcat versions 8.x, 8.5.x, and 9.x.

Which version of the JDBC driver for PostgreSQL from https://jdbc.postgresql.org/download.html will Crowd 3 use when Java JDK 1.8.0 is installed?

OK, Crowd versions 2.x with Tomcat 7 are certainly still in use (here too, since the upgrade to Crowd 3 fails constantly). Might also need some documentation.

postgresql-42.1.1.jar exists in atlassian-crowd-3.1.1/apache-tomcat/lib, but the documentation is so mis-leading…

Hi @iron.werther,

Crowd 3.1.x bundles postgresql-42.1.1.jar by default, so you should not have to install postgresql driver.

Additionally Crowd 3.1.x comes with Apache Tomcat 8.5.20 version and does not support Java 9.
