I am trying to add a JIRA user in CRUCIBLE user group, all the JIRA users are synchronized in Crucible. But I am getting this error while adding a JIRA user to crucible/fisheye  user group

"Failed updating group memberships. Did not have update groups permission in any of the directories []. Please check the system logs for details."

Hi @Nilanjan Sen,

Based on the error, it seems that the issue is related to the fact that after integrating JIRA as user management system for FishEye (Connecting to JIRA for user management) you are trying to change the group membership for the users in Fisheye.

This is not possible because the JIRA user directory is read-only. Our documentation states the following:

Only the users, groups and memberships in this directory are retrieved from the JIRA server that is acting as user manager. They can only be modified via that JIRA server.

The options to change the permissions of the users are the following:

* Add the required groups (e.g. fisheye-users and crucible-users) directly in JIRA and synchronise the directory
* Alternatively, update the Global permissions to allow access to FishEye/Crucible to the required groups defined in JIRA

Just to be clear, are you making the change in Fisheye/Crucible or in Jira? Are you using Jira to manage your user groups?
