I'd like to display bamboo build/deployment version in my .net app (possibly through saving the version in the .config file). Any idea how I could accomplish this?

Bamboo has (like all other Atlassian products) an exellent REST api. I would suggest you have a look at it:
https://docs.atlassian.com/bamboo/REST/5.5.0/
In this way you can retrieve information about all projects/builds that are currently in Bamboo.
Are you trying to implement a dashboard application in .NET or do you want to display the build number in an about box in your application?
Sorry if my explanation wasn't sufficient. It's the second case Benji mentioned - I want to display the build number in an about box.
