After Kraków, I’m making another stop in my home country: Malbork. This time, it’s red-brick towers, castle walls and a view across the Nogat River. There’s also a tiny red boat that looks like it took a wrong turn on the way to the car park. 😂 One photo in this set is worth a closer look: a display showing the castle in 1945, with the restored buildings behind it. Seeing the two views together gives you an idea of how much had to be rebuilt after the war.
Malbork was built by the Teutonic Order and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Here’s an interesting detail: records from earlier conservation work helped guide the reconstruction after the Second World War. That’s documentation worth keeping. 🙂 I’ve included the river view and a few closer shots, because from a distance you can miss the brickwork, roof details and covered passage between the buildings. There’s plenty to point a camera at, even before heading inside. Have you visited Malbork? Which other castle in Poland would you add to the list? 🤠
Looks beautiful!
