You have a problem, open the support page, and getting help becomes another problem. The site is not recognised, the form points you to Community, or you are looking at an AI chat when you wanted to raise a ticket.
There is a detail worth checking before you start typing: the ticket option may be sitting directly below the AI box.
In the playground account used for this walkthrough, that option opened the ticket form without sending a single message to the bot.
This guide covers Atlassian Cloud. Screenshots were captured on 24 October 2026. Available options can differ by account, subscription and support category.
1. Choose the right support category
Open Contact Support and choose the category that matches your problem.
Your problem | Where to start |
|---|
An app error or suspected bug | Technical issues and bugs |
Trouble signing in or receiving account emails | Account Login and Email Issues |
A payment, invoice or subscription question | Billing, payments, and pricing |
Help with a migration | Migration support |
For a Marketplace app, check the vendor’s support details on its listing. The vendor may need to investigate its own app.
Billing is a separate support route. Choosing it does not establish eligibility for technical support.
2. Select the affected app and site
In this walkthrough, selecting Technical issues and bugs → Jira opened the What is your URL? field.
The form before entering a site. Seeing “Ask the community” at this point does not establish whether you can submit a ticket for that site.
Enter the affected site’s address, such as mysitename.atlassian.net. Avoid pasting a long link to an individual issue, board or page into a field asking for the site address.
The Finding the URL section explains what the form expects:
When the address is rejected, keep the exact validation message. “URL not recognised” alone does not tell us whether the cause is the account, subscription or form.
3. Look below the AI box
After the playground URL validated, the form displayed an AI chat box.
Underneath it was a smaller control:
Need help? Submit a support request
No message had been sent to the AI bot.
Clicking Submit a support request expanded the ticket fields immediately.
The summary, participants, business impact and description fields are available while the AI box remains empty.
Further down, the form includes attachments, working hours, a support data-access choice and the final Submit support request button.
The direct option is easy to overlook beneath the much larger AI box. Before starting a chat, check below it.
This was verified on an eligible playground account whose Jira subscription was listed as Cloud Enterprise. Other accounts, plans or categories may show a different flow. It does not rule out another customer encountering a genuine blocker.

4. Check your subscription and account
For technical support, Free plans generally use documentation and Community. Paid support depends on the offering and the requester’s eligibility.
Check the subscription for the affected app. Having a paid subscription for another app does not establish support eligibility for this one.
Also check which Atlassian account is signed in. Project administrator permissions do not automatically make someone an eligible support contact.
An eligible administrator or support contact can raise the request and include you where appropriate. Avoid granting broad administration access just to get around the form.

5. What if the direct option is missing?
Record where the process stops:
- The selected category and app.
- Whether the site URL validated.
- The exact message shown.
- The last action before the form or chat repeats itself.
- A screenshot of the blocked step, with private information removed.
That gives the next person something concrete to investigate.
An AI response is not confirmation that a ticket exists. Opening the ticket fields is not confirmation either. After submitting your actual issue, look for a request reference or confirmation.
6. What if you cannot sign in?
Start with Atlassian’s account login troubleshooting guide.
For a managed account or SSO problem, involve your organisation’s administrator. Community members can explain the available routes, but they cannot verify your identity or reset the account for you.
Give the next person enough context
Include the affected app and plan, what you expected, what happened, the exact error, the time and time zone, and what you already tried.
Keep passwords, API tokens, recovery codes and customer information out of public posts. Send private account details through the appropriate support channel.
“After entering the site URL, I see the AI box but no support-request option underneath” gives people a much better starting point than “I can’t contact Support.”
Test scope: the Jira site validation, direct support-request option and expanded ticket form were checked. The direct option appeared again after refreshing and repeating the route. No AI message was sent, no support data access was granted and no ticket was submitted. Final ticket creation was not tested.
