Cannot delete board from workspace

I inherited a company Trello workspace and there's a board in the workspace that is impossible to delete. I assume it was created by someone who's long gone from the organization, so their emails are defunct. We have a free account and there's a limited number of boards we can use, but this one legacy board is impossible to edit or rename and I cannot figure out how to delete it even though I'm an admin. Is this even possible to get rid of? Or do I just have an empty mascot board that will haunt me forever?

First, workspace admins aren’t automatically board admins. If the original admin is unavailable, temporarily upgrade to Standard or Premium to manage all boards and to close or permanently delete the old one. Atlassian documents this here:

Unfortunately, Trello Support cannot manually change board ownership due to security reasons.
