Can a Forge app support link unfurling in Trello?

Hi everyone,

I’m exploring whether it’s possible to build a Forge app that provides link unfurling in Trello.

Specifically, when a user pastes a URL into Trello, I’d like Trello to display a richer preview—for example, a title, description, or thumbnail—based on data provided by the app.

Is this something a Forge app can currently do? If so, what integration point or API should I use? Or does Trello link unfurling need to be implemented as a Trello Power-Up using a separate Trello-specific capability?

I’d also appreciate any pointers to relevant documentation or examples, and clarification on whether Forge support for Trello is planned.

Atlassian has not yet released a public timeline for extending Forge modules (such as Smart Links) to Trello. Forge's current focus remains on deepening integrations for Jira, Confluence, and Compass. One additional thing I'm curious about 🤔 is whether the new App Builder in Rovo Studio could eventually support something like this.

Atlassian recently introduced the ability to generate Forge apps through natural-language prompts in Studio 📚:

I know Trello has its own Power-Up capabilities for URL formatting, but I'm curious whether App Builder could generate something similar, or whether it's currently limited to the existing Forge modules.

If you do experiment with this, I'd be keen to hear the results :)

According to Atlassian documentation, Studio's App Builder generates Forge apps using existing modules, so it wouldn't add Trello support on its own.

For Jean's use case, Trello's format-url capability already supports richer link previews in comments, including images and actions.

It would be interesting to see Trello supported in Studio eventually! 🤠
