Whether you live in Jira every day or just pop in to update your sprint tasks, we all develop our own personal tricks to get through our queue faster.

To help everyone speed up their day-to-day workflow, we're kicking off a thread to collect favorite daily Jira shortcuts, automation tricks, and Rovo prompts!

Here are a few quick and easy hacks to get us started:

The keyboard dot menu (.): Press . anywhere in Jira to open the quick action dialog. You can instantly assign, transition, label, or attach files to a work item without touching your mouse.
“Rovo, catch-me-up!” prompts: Instead of reading a 20-comment thread on a complex ticket, ask Rovo in the chat panel: "Summarize the latest decisions and next steps on this work item."
Open the shortcut cheat sheet (?): Press ? anywhere to see every keyboard shortcut you can use.

I'm definitely using Jira shortcuts more than Rovo shortcuts! 😅

My favorites are M for comments, I to assign to myself, D to change status, and . for quick actions. (of course)
I use these all the time!

As for AI, I've recently discovered voice-to-text, and I absolutely love it! 😍 I can literally just talk to my AI (including Rovo!), and combined with MCP integrations, it's brilliant!

I wouldn't even say my days are particularly repetitive, but AI helps me get so much more done, saves tons of time, and gives me more room to explore new ideas! 🚀 Been running 5 parallel voice-to-text chats the other day 😅

I'm a huge fan of voice-to-text, too. Sometimes you just need to think out loud and brain dump your thoughts and ideas. Typing things just isn't the same!

One that saves me a ton of time is the backlog bulk change flow: select a bunch of issues, right-click, and reassign or move them all in one go instead of opening each one. It turns a tedious sprint cleanup into a two minute job. I have also started asking Rovo to summarize long comment threads before standup, which beats scrolling through twenty replies.

Thanks for starting this one. The dot menu is the tip I keep coming back to, and asking Rovo for a quick summary before standup sounds like a real time saver. The bulk change flow for the backlog is another good one I had not tried yet.

One habit that helps me is keeping a saved filter for my current sprint work so I can jump straight to what needs attention without rebuilding the search each morning. I also use the dot menu to move an issue to the next status while I am still reading its comments, which avoids extra clicks. For longer threads, asking Rovo for a short summary before I reply has saved me from rereading the whole discussion.

I find it helps to keep issue descriptions short and clear, so I spend less time going back to clarify what needs to be done. A quick check of the board at the start of the day also helps me spot blocked work early.

Absolutely, John. If you're using Rovo, have you ever tried the "make shorter" selection when asking it to help improve your writing? I can be pretty wordy at times, so it's one I use often and find very helpful!

The dot menu has become my go-to as well, especially for quickly reassigning work without opening each issue. I also like pairing a saved filter with a short morning review, so blocked work surfaces before the day gets busy. One habit that still helps is keeping acceptance criteria in the description, which cuts down on back-and-forth later.
