Trello integration failing with UNAVAILABLE: McpServerError: Connection failed

I'm having a persistent problem with the ChatGPT–Trello integration and wondered whether anyone else has experienced the same issue or found a solution.

The problem

ChatGPT is unable to carry out operations on my Trello board. The errors occur across several different operations, rather than just when attempting to create or edit a card.

The main error returned is:

UNAVAILABLE: Error code: UNAVAILABLE; Error: McpServerError: Connection failed.

I've also received:

Script error: The tool call failed internally.

What I've tried

Confirmed that I can access Trello directly and edit cards normally.
Disconnected and reconnected the Trello integration in ChatGPT.
Retried the failed operations after reconnecting.

Unfortunately, reconnecting hasn't resolved the problem.

Examples of failures

Retrieving an existing card fails with an internal connection error.
Searching for cards times out.
Retrieving board lists and cards fails internally.
Repeating the search after reconnecting also times out.

Hi Francis Moloney, welcome to the Community! This doesn't look like anything on your side. Another user reported the same failure today from Claude Code, with the Trello MCP server timing out on every authenticated request, so the problem seems to be in Trello's MCP server rather than in ChatGPT or your connection. That's also why reconnecting doesn't change anything.

The Trello status page doesn't list the MCP server as a component, which is why it still shows everything as operational. I've flagged both posts for Atlassian Support so the Trello team can take a look. If it keeps failing, you can also open a ticket with Trello support, which is where the Trello MCP documentation asks people to report persistent errors.

My ChatGPT keeps timing out as well and is not able to access my Trello Board or update cards. Last week, it would make me beautiful to do lists based on my Trello boards and seamlessly update cards based on meeting Go dos, and now it can't even access it.
