Last weekend I was at the Singapore Grand Prix with a group of people I had never met in person.
We were there for the Atlassian Champion Surprise & Delight F1 Experience β a weekend put together for a small group of Community Champions from around the world.
The racing was spectacular. But it is not what I will remember.
For years, most of these people existed for me only as avatars, forum replies and messages sent across time zones. Meeting them in person was the real highlight: trading stories from very different markets, comparing notes on how we each found our way here, and finding out how much we already had in common.
That part of a community never shows up in a thread count.
A few moments I am taking home:
β’ The Pit Grandstand in the Atlassian Williams F1 Team kit, with a crowd that never sat down
β’ A long dinner at Synthesis that stretched late into the night
β’ The podium ceremony β SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX 2026 across the big screen
β’ Walking the city between sessions: the Merlion, Marina Bay, Jewel Changi
Thank you to Atlassian and to everyone who worked behind the scenes. And to the Champions I finally got to meet β it was a real joy.
If you have ever wondered whether the "community" in Atlassian Community is real: it is. ποΈ πΈπ¬
Has anyone else here met a fellow Community member in person? I would love to hear how it went.
