I learned that there is a difference between remixing in edit mode vs. on the published page.

IMHO -
If you want to quickly remix for sending a graphic to someone in slack or put somewhere else, then remixing from the published page is the way to go.

If you want to remix for a graphic that you want to add to the Confluence page and you especially want the ability to edit via additional Rovo prompts, do this in edit mode on the page.

🧪 Day 3 – My Rovo Remix Experiment!

Today I joined the hands-on lab in Group 1 and explored transforming strategic planning documentation into visual content using Rovo Remix.

But I decided to take the experiment a little further!

While working with the Budget Overview scenario, I discovered something interesting: generating charts directly through Remix wasn't working as expected.

Instead of giving up, I asked Rovo Chat to analyze the entire document, follow its instructions, generate the appropriate visualizations, and flag any inconsistencies without modifying the original information.

And it worked!

Rovo generated budget charts, validated the financial figures, and even identified a potential inconsistency between the budget allocation notes and the quarterly data.

💡 My biggest takeaway:

AI-generated visualizations are useful, but combining them with document analysis, data validation, and human oversight is where the real value begins.

I'm also documenting these experiments in my own Confluence space to reuse them in future Rovo training sessions.

I explored how Remix with Rovo can transform existing Confluence content into more engaging formats and how Confluence Slides can turn pages into presentation-ready content.

🧪 My lab experiment: one onboarding review, three remixes

Great hands-on session with @Rob Hean tonight ! In breakout room 8, it was good to chat with @Alina Shevchenko as well. 💙

My section was “New hires by location” from the Lumen & Co. onboarding review. I copied the doc into my space and started remixing.

What I tried:

Geo map: I selected the location table and used Remix → Visualizations → Geo map. Now the hires show across Portugal, Canada, Singapore, the UK and Germany, with the department breakdown on hover.
Bold infographic: I remixed the “Onboarding results by location” table into a Bold style infographic, and Rovo titled it “Regional Hiring Pulse” on its own. It shows hires per location as a bar chart, with satisfaction (4.4), retention (96%) and team connection (82%) as big stat cards. It’s my favourite of the three. 😍
Rovo edits: on the map, I asked it to separate office vs fully remote, and it added an Office / Fully Remote legend. Colour-coding the dots and sizing them by number of hires didn’t apply, even after trying both Rovo chat and the inline edit. Sharing that as feedback for the team. 🙂

My biggest learning: where you start the remix matters. Rovo chat in the side panel used the whole page the first time (I got KPI cards and trend charts I didn’t ask for 😄), while the Remix button on a selected table remixes just that content.

🪄 My Slides experiment: customer notes to pitch deck

For the second exercise, In breakout room 9, Northstar Forge customer account notes and asked Slides to turn them into a pitch deck for Project Beaconstone.

My prompt:
“Create a customer pitch deck to sell Project Beaconstone to Northstar Forge, based on these customer notes. 8 slides max. Start with their current challenges, then show how Beaconstone solves each one, with the value prop and key selling points for their main buyers. Make it as visual as possible, with a chart wherever there are numbers. End with clear next steps. Only use what’s in the notes.”

What I got: a clean deck with the five challenges, a fix for each one, big stat callouts (90 → 30 min handoff prep, 2 days → ½ day business review), a card for each buyer, a pilot plan, and next steps.

What impressed me most: Rovo checked its own work and told me the chart used a made-up starting number for exec update time, because the notes only gave a 40% reduction. In a customer pitch, that’s exactly the kind of mistake you don’t want to walk in with! 😅

My edits:

Rovo edit: I asked it to fix the problems it found. It removed the agenda slide to get to 8 slides, kept only the real 90 → 30 handoff numbers in the chart, and moved the other figures to text.
Manual edit: I rewrote the value slide title from “Measurable impact from day one” to “What changes for Northstar Forge”, to make it about the customer rather than us.
Even after the fix, Rovo pointed out two more phrases that weren’t in the notes (“Launch in 30 days” and “clear ROI”). Good reminder to always review before presenting.
I also tried Present mode, and the deck opens full screen right inside Confluence. No exporting or switching to another tool, so you could walk straight into a customer call with it.

From customer notes to a pitch-ready deck in minutes, and an AI that flags its own invented numbers before your customer does. Thanks @Rob Hean for a great hands-on session ! 🎃

🧪 Lab notes from room 3: headcount plan, three ways

Fun hands-on session with @Rob Hean ! Our section was the Headcount plan from the Northstar Forge annual planning doc: two dense tables of headcount by function and country.

Remix 1: Bar chart. I remixed the function × country table into a bar chart. It went with grouped bars, one per country, instead of stacked, and that turned out more useful: you can instantly see Engineering in the US (48) towering over everything else, and how thin G&A is across regions.

Remix 2: Treemap. I remixed “Planned new hires by geography” into a treemap. The US takes almost half the block (23 of 48 hires), which tells the hiring story faster than the percentage column ever did.

Rovo edit: I asked it to sort countries by total headcount and highlight Engineering. Instead of patching the old visual, it built a new drill-down treemap, “Headcount by Country and Function”. At the top level you see countries sorted US → UK → Australia → Germany → Canada, and clicking one drills into its functions. Inside the US view, Engineering (48) takes up nearly half the block. That’s two tables merged into one interactive visual. 🤯

Takeaway: the remix is a starting point, not the final answer. Choosing the right output for the question you’re asking matters more than the data itself. A bar chart answers “where’s our engineering capacity?”, while a treemap answers “where is the hiring money going?”. Same data, different stories.

🪄 Slides experiment from room 6: incident report to exec deck

For the second exercise, I took the Nimbus Fleet customer support and incident trends report and asked Slides for a 10-slide executive presentation with charts for the 21-day trend, the severity breakdown, the pain points and the P0 actions.

What happened (honestly): the first draft looked polished but got the data wrong. Wrong date range, invented severity counts, pain points like “login failures” that aren’t in the report, and an “X” placeholder for total incidents. 😅

What impressed me: Rovo audited its own deck and flagged all of it, then listed the correct figures straight from the report. It even caught an inconsistency in the source doc itself: the exec summary says 3 SEV1 and 45 SEV2, but the daily table adds up to 4 SEV1 and 47 SEV2. That’s the kind of thing a human reviewer would miss on a first read.

My edits:

Rovo edit: I asked it to rebuild the deck with the correct data. The second version got it right: 236 incidents from 29 Sep to 19 Oct, the 14 Oct peak of 18, 80.9% resolved within 24h, and the real severity split. It also trimmed the deck to 10 slides. Even then, it flagged a few phrases still beyond the report, like “cascading sync failures”, for me to check.
Manual edit: I renamed the root-cause slide “What actually broke, and why”.
I tried Present mode too, and it runs straight from Confluence.

Takeaway: treat the first draft like a junior engineer’s PR. It’s useful, but it needs review. The good news is that Rovo is a decent reviewer of its own work when you ask it to be. 🎃

I took my Team ‘26 Europe recap page in Confluence and tried two experiments to make it easier to share with teammates who couldn’t attend the event.

🪄 Experiment 1: Remix with Rovo
Turned a long recap page (top 5 announcements) into a more structured, visual format, so the key announcements are easy to scan at a glance.

🎞️ Experiment 2: Confluence Slides
Turned the same page into a short recap deck for a team meeting. My prompt: “Turn this page into a short recap deck for teammates who couldn’t attend Team ‘26 Europe. Start with the top 5 announcements, show the three event days as a simple timeline, and group the features by Context, Collaboration and Confidence. Mark what’s available now and what’s coming soon, and end with 3 things our team can try this month. Keep each slide under 30 words.”

Hi @Mindy Park,

I missed the live lab, so breakout exercise 1 got done on a test site afterwards. Room 8 was the Lumen & Co. onboarding doc, "New hires by location".

The table is department by country with a Total row and column. A stacked bar chart fits, one bar per country, totals left out.

The Remix button on the table only opened an empty Rovo panel (four tries, could be my setup). The Rovo chat got the chart right first time. Bars matched the Total row, Portugal 86 down to Germany 32, no double counting.

The next ask was horizontal, most to fewest, added under the table. Rovo warned the biggest bar might land at the bottom. It did.

The adding part failed. Rovo said the tools it had in chat can't edit an existing page body, and a raw embedCard JSON block showed up mid-reply. Pasting the chart link into the page by hand gives a live chart, so that's the route for now.

Hi @Rob Hean,

Nothing was selected by hand. The page was in view mode. Hovering over the table brought up its Remix button, and that highlighted the whole table and opened the "Create a visual from this content" dialog. Pick for me, Bar chart and a typed request each opened the Rovo panel with no prompt. The panel only listed the page as context, so the table may have got lost on the way.

The embed came from the Rovo chat. The chat prompt asked for the horizontal chart under the table. The embedCard JSON showed up in the reply that said it couldn't edit the page.

Selecting the table by hand before pressing Remix is the next thing to try
