๐ Hi Atlassian Community!
AI agents, including Rovo or external agents like ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor, have become incredible partners at generating files, like interactive HTML dashboards, data models in CSV, planning docs in Markdown, and reports in PDF.
The problem? Those agent-generated files usually end up hidden in chats or buried on your desktop.
Sharing them often means downloading and then uploading into a Slack thread or email, losing context, dealing with multiple versions, and no discoverability.
Weโre thrilled to announce Artifacts, now in open beta. Artifacts is a new platform app that gives teams a secure, centralized, and trusted place to store, share, embed, and discover AI-generated files across your entire Atlassian workspace.
๐ฆ What is an artifact?
An artifact is any file generated during an AI session or automated workflow. It could be:
- An interactive HTML report, visual dashboard, or scenario calculator built in Rovo Chat
- A formatted CSV data export or spreadsheet created by a Rovo agent
- A markdown doc, PDF, presentation, or media asset published by a Codex agent
Instead of living as temporary downloads or in chat messages, artifacts are persistent, cloud-hosted files designed to flow seamlessly through your teamโs workspace.
โจ Key capabilities of the Artifacts App
- ๐ Artifacts can be embedded anywhere via Smart Links
- Simply paste the artifact URL into a Confluence page, Jira work item, or comment to display it as an inline link, a rich card, or a fully interactive embed.
- ๐ Granular sharing & permissions. Control who sees your work:
- Restricted: Only visible to you or specific colleagues.
- Anyone with a link: Visible to anyone in your organization that has the URL.
- Open: Visible to anyone in your organization and appears in Rovo Search.
- ๐ Versioning
- You can ask your agent to update your artifacts, and everyone else will always see the latest.
- ๐ Artifacts are discoverable in Rovo Search & powered by the Teamwork Graph
- Artifacts are added to the Teamwork Graph. They surface in Rovo Search and feed context back into future agent sessions.
- ๐ค Works across your favorite AI tools
- Rovo Search: Files created in Rovo Chat are automatically created as artifacts.
- Atlassian MCP and Teamwork Graph CLI: Connect external agents like Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to generate and upload artifacts
- Manual upload: Drop files directly in the Artifacts app interface.
๐ ๏ธ Try It Out
- Open the app: Look for Artifacts in your Atlassian app switcher (top-left grid icon).
- Generate or upload an artifact:
- With Rovo and โThink Deeperโ or โWorkโ (in early access) enabled, use a prompt like:
- โCreate an interactive meeting cost calculator, with controls for attendees, duration, and hourly rate, plus weekly/annual projections.โ
- With any agent using Atlassian MCP, ask it:
- โCreate an interactive meeting cost calculator, with controls for attendees, duration, and hourly rate, plus weekly/annual projections. Use Atlassian MCP v2 to upload it to Atlassian Artifacts.โ
- Embed & share: Copy your artifact link and paste it into a Confluence page or Jira work item.
Donโt see Artifacts? During open beta, the Artifacts app is available for all cloud sites with Jira and a paid subscription. We will be opening up access further over time.
