Cant add service management to specific workspace

trying to add a service management to my service its just giving me an error.

Hi @lilather,

This generic error typically occurs due to one of three reasons:

* Permission mismatch: You need Organization Admin permissions in admin.atlassian.com, not just Jira/Project Admin rights.
* Session / Iframe failure: The in-app modal failed to authenticate your session or was blocked by browser extensions/cookies.
* Provisioning path: Attempting to add or link JSM from within an existing project menu rather than through centralized administration.

How to resolve it:

* If adding the JSM product/subscription to your site:* Open an Incognito / Private window.
* Go directly to admin.atlassian.com (do not use the in-product link).
* Navigate to Products (or Billing > Subscriptions) > Add product.
* Select Jira Service Management and choose your existing cloud domain.

* If linking JSM to an existing Service (Service Registry / Compass):* Go directly into your JSM project > Project settings > Services.
* Link the service from inside the project settings rather than from the Service card/Compass UI.
* Temporarily disable ad blockers or third-party cookie blocking, which often block the integration frame.

You could try the below step-by-step troubleshooting paths to resolve it:

* Clear cache & retry in Incognito.
* Ensure you have Admin role to do the same. * Go to admin.atlassian.com, —> Directory —> Users
* Find your own account and verify that your role is explicitly listed as Org admin.
* If you only have Product admin or User access admin, you must have an existing Org Admin execute the product addition or elevate your permissions.

* Try to add JSM from Atlassian Admin* Navigate to admin.atlassian.com.
* Select your Organization.
* In the top navigation, go to Products —> Discover applications (or Add product).
* Locate JSM and select Get it now/Try it free.
* Select the specific site/workspace from the dropdown and proceed.

* Reach out to your Internal IT: In many corporate, new products and licenses cannot be added on-demand and must be requested through internal service portals (such as ServiceNow or an internal IT catalog) where licensing and LDAP/SSO sync groups are pre-configured.

I’d be happy to help. Could you share a bit more context about what you’re trying to do? The message “We had some technical trouble” is a generic error page, so it doesn’t provide much information on its own.

Could you please share the following?

* Where exactly are you trying to add it? For example in admin.atlassian.com > Apps > Add app, or somewhere inside Jira?
* What do you mean by “workspace”? Is it your Atlassian site (yoursite.atlassian.net), an Assets workspace, or something else?
* What do you mean by “service”? Is it a service in JSM, a component in Compass, or the site itself?
* Are you an organization admin for that site?
* Does it work for other sites or workspaces in your organization?
* Which plan are you on (Free, Standard, Premium)?

A screenshot of the page before the error, with the URL visible, would help. Try incognito or another browser to rule out a cached session.
