Lost data

Question

I signed up about a month ago and had a free trial. The trial ended, and I no longer have access to any of my work, but it was all on one trello board. Is there any way to retrieve the data? To be clear, I can see the "cards" I created in my inbox now, which used to reside on my board, but the data typed within the description is all gone. I have gone back and seen the description before, but now it's completely wiped.

I did try to recover the card description, but it will not find my cards.

Hello @Centerpoint Premarital Group

To expand on Martin's response, Trello offers a way to recover saved card descriptions. If you can access an affected card, copy its ID from the URL and visit:

https://trello.com/1/cards/CARD_ID/actions?filter=updateCard:desc

Replace CARD_ID with the actual ID and look for data.old.desc, which may contain the previous description.

Hi and welcome to the Community!

The end of a Premium trial does not delete anything in Trello. Your workspace just goes back to the Free plan, and all cards, descriptions, comments and attachments stay where they were. So I would treat this as a “where did the board go” problem first, not a “data is gone” problem.

I would first check where the board went:

* Boards > View all closed boards
* The workspace switcher in the left sidebar
* Board menu > Archived items

If you can open the board again, I would export it via Board menu > Share, print and export > Export as JSON. Every description edit is stored there as an “updateCard” action with the old text inside, so you can search for “desc” and copy your content back out.

If that does not help, I would contact Atlassian support at support.atlassian.com/contact as soon as possible. They can check closed or deleted boards on their side.

Cheers, Martin
