Loom Meeting Note Taker

Question

I was wondering if the Loom team ever intends to create a Loom meeting note taker that isn't a bot in a meeting. Many note taking applications are now creating something that records screen and/or audio on the persons laptop or mobile. Is there ever a plan or considered roadmap item?

Loom's increasingly getting attention these days - odds are we may see new toys in lieu of Teams 26 Europe. Crossing fingers.

Hello @Ryan Greene

There are already related requests: LOOM-242 covers notes without a bot joining, and LOOM-718 asks for desktop recording as a fallback, feeding into transcription and meeting notes. Both are Gathering Interest, so they aren’t a confirmed roadmap commitment.

You can already record manually with desktop system audio, although that’s separate from the automated meeting-notes workflow. I’d add your use case to those requests and watch them for updates.

There's probably a number of reasons they are doing it the "bot" way.

For one it makes it obvious whose recording - and in MS Teams for example won't brute force a reset on your camera/mic (its VERY annoying when you use MS's answer to note taking).

That and it takes a lot of effort to integrate seamlessly when Loom is a 2nd party app in this context.

Not tried using the loom desktop to watch a meeting however.

Curious to see what others say.
