Hi Team,

I am trying to understand if we can automate filter below on Jira DC

Can you please suggest an automated way to get
alert if a new Jira is raised.

Hi Ritu, on Jira Data Center there are two built-in ways to get alerted when a new issue matches a filter. Neither needs an app.

Option 1: filter subscription (simplest, runs on a schedule)

1. Add a time window to the filter's JQL that matches how often you want the alert, e.g. <your existing JQL> AND created >= -1h, and save it.
2. Open the filter (Issues > Manage filters), then Details > New subscription.
3. Choose the recipient (you or a group) and set the schedule to match the window, e.g. every hour. Leave "Email this filter even if there are no issues found" unticked, so you only get an email when something new came in.

Option 2: Automation for Jira (instant, per issue). Automation is built into Jira Software and JSM Data Center.

1. Project settings > Automation (or Administration > System > Automation rules for a multi-project rule) > Create rule.
2. Trigger: Issue created.
3. Condition: JQL condition, and paste in the same JQL as your filter (or just filter = 12345 with your filter's ID).
4. Action: Send email to yourself or a group, with something like {{issue.key}} {{issue.summary}} in the subject and {{issue.url}} in the body.

Both options send email through Jira's outgoing mail server, so it has to be configured under Administration > System > Outgoing mail. If the filter has a lot of traffic, Option 1 gives you one digest rather than an email per issue.
