What are threaded comments?

Reply directly to any comment to create hierarchical discussion threads. Related conversations stay grouped together, making discussions easier to follow and understand.

Why use them?

Organize discussions on ideas for better clarity and context
Help the team, decision-makers and stakeholders quickly find critical information
Enable contextual responses and meaningful discussions throughout the product lifecylce

How to use them

Click "Reply" beneath any comment
Your response appears under the original comment, creating a clear thread
Continue conversations by replying to any comment in the thread

Pinned comments (coming soon)

This is a great update and fantastic news!

From the OP, it is unclear if this is a paid or free feature, or if this is being rolled out across all accounts slowly or quickly. It is currently unavailable in my account :-/

Overall, this is a great feature enhancement, and I can't wait to dig in!

Can we also have private / internal comments, like is possible in JSM projects?

We have published multiple roadmap views in JPD, but can't have a discussion on those published items in the comments because those will be visible to the "outside-world". A major limitation for us currently.

We don't want to create a separate project for the sake of publishing our roadmap without any (internal) comments on them, like the JPD team did, as an example. Maintaining double data is never a good practice

Had a crack at writing a bookmarklet to "un-thread" a Jira list of threaded comments.

Basically putting them back in a sequential, descending date order. Ideally this should/could be a view toggle that is part of the Jira comments UI for everyone.
