[FEATURE REQUEST] option to clone a repo with LFS disabled

Question

Hello everyone!When I clone a repo via SourceTree's own gui, all the large binaries get downloaded automatically without any warning. I don't think this is meant to work like this because immediately afterward I received a prompt saying ~"do you want to download the LFS files?".... except SourceTree already did! All of them! LFS should be disabled by default if you ask me. Only when the user explicitly runs git lfs pull the large files should be downloaded.
GIT_LFS_SKIP_SMUDGE=1 git clone https://github.com/FooBar/Baz

OR there should be a checkmark when cloning asking you whether you want to download LFS or not... Thank you in advance!

Good request — I’ve run into the same issue where LFS files start downloading right away in SourceTree. Setting GIT_LFS_SKIP_SMUDGE=1 before cloning is the cleanest workaround, but having a simple checkbox in the GUI would save a lot of hassle.

I'm not sure if the team follows requests here, but you could check for open suggestions on JAC.

What I/we usually do is to reach out to Atlassian Support and discuss the requirement with them, which can then result in one of their team member opening a new feature request on JAC. 👀
