hi, can you help me to identify the right Atlassian product?

here are the key points we need to address:

 

1. **High Number of Projects**: We manage an average of 400 projects per year. These projects involve product development in the lab, which includes a few non-standardizable tasks. Essentially, it's a handcrafted process of preparing products by mixing chemicals to meet client requirements and applicable regulations. The complexity of these projects varies, so we can group them into clusters with pre-estimated time commitments.

 

2. **Undersized Department**: Our department currently has four resources, and we are significantly understaffed. We must b e extremely efficient to get the result.

 

3. **Effective Planning**: We need a planning system that is fast, flexible, and based on saturation levels and a skill matrix.

 

4. **Dashboard Visibility**: It's essential to have visibility of resource saturation and project progress through dashboards.

 

5. **Categorizing Resources**: The software should help us categorize resources and find the right person for each project. It should also help identify bottlenecks where demand exceeds supply, allowing us to adjust our activity plans accordingly.

 

6. **Workload Scheduling**: We need a system that can quickly identify who is overloaded and who is under-utilized. A scheduling tool with a drag-and-drop calendar view would be ideal.

I am a bit surprised that you would be looking for a software tool to manage work allocation based on skills in a team of 4 people. My assumption would be that making work / tasks clearly visible and assigning it to the right people would already bring you a long way. The requirements around dashboarding etc seem like overkill for the workforce you are trying to manage (could be that am drawing premature conclusions from the information you're sharing).

Jira is perfectly capable of doing that, with a big potential to scale along with the organisation as you grow.

If you really need additional workforce management tools, have a look at resource planning tools in the Atlassian Marketplace to fill that gap. The Tempo suite of products might be a good starting point based on your description, but you'll see from the list I shared that there's a lot of options out there, which might be a good fit for your organisation based on plenty of different reasons.
