Looking for the Best DevOps & Cloud Learning Paths on Atlassian Platform – Any Recommendations?

Utkarsh Bhujade

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all having a great day.

I’m a DevOps Engineer with 3 years of experience, always eager to learn and grow in the DevOps and Cloud space. Recently, I started exploring the Atlassian Learning and Certification Portal to find relevant courses that could support my upskilling journey.

If you have taken any valuable DevOps or Cloud-related courses from Atlassian (especially those focused on tools like Jira, Bitbucket, or Bamboo), I would really appreciate your suggestions.

Please feel free to share course names or links here. It would mean a lot.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Utkarsh Bhujade

Utkarsh. After reviewing the discussion, I see that your post has 0 replies so far. Since no community responses exist yet, I will provide my own analysis and recommendations based on your question and common learning paths.

The Core Question

You are a DevOps Engineer with 3 years of experience, looking for DevOps and Cloud learning paths on the Atlassian platform – specifically for tools like Jira, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.

Why the Atlassian Platform for DevOps?

Atlassian offers a complete DevOps toolchain that covers:

Jira – Planning and tracking (issues, sprints, roadmaps)
Bitbucket – Git repositories, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews
Bamboo – Continuous integration and deployment server
Compass – Component catalog and microservices management
Opsgenie – Incident response and alerting
Statuspage – Incident communication

Recommended Atlassian Learning Paths

Based on common certification tracks and community feedback from similar discussions, here are the most valuable paths for a DevOps Engineer:

For Jira (Planning & Tracking)

Jira Fundamentals – Free basics
Jira Cloud Administrator – For managing projects, workflows, permissions
ACP-620 (Managing Jira Cloud Projects) – Official certification

For Bitbucket (Code & CI/CD)

Bitbucket Cloud – Get started – Free basics
Bitbucket Pipelines – CI/CD automation
ACP-420 (Managing Bitbucket Cloud) – Official certification

For Bamboo (CI/CD Server)

Bamboo fundamentals
ACP-600 (Managing Bamboo Data Center) – For on-prem CI/CD

For Cross-Tool DevOps

DevOps with Atlassian – Connecting Jira, Bitbucket, Opsgenie
Open DevOps learning path – End-to-end DevOps workflows

Free Resources Before Paying for Certification

Atlassian University – Many free courses are available (look for "Free" filter)
Atlassian Community – Join discussions and ask questions
YouTube – Official Atlassian channel has tutorial playlists
Confluence – Atlassian's own documentation is excellent

Complementary Non-Atlassian Learning (For DevOps & Cloud)

Since DevOps and Cloud extend beyond Atlassian tools, consider pairing Atlassian learning with:

Cloud platforms – AWS, Azure, or GCP fundamentals (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner)
Containerization – Docker and Kubernetes (CKAD certification)
Infrastructure as Code – Terraform (HashiCorp Certified)
Monitoring – Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog

Practical Advice from My Analysis

Start with Jira + Bitbucket – These are the core of Atlassian's DevOps story. Learn how to link a Jira project to a Bitbucket repository to see commits and PRs directly in issues.

Then add Pipelines – Bitbucket Pipelines is Atlassian's native CI/CD. It's simpler than Bamboo and fully cloud-managed.

Bamboo only if needed – Many teams are moving to Pipelines. Only learn Bamboo if your employer specifically uses it (common in legacy or data center setups).

Opsgenie for incident response – If your role includes on-call, Opsgenie knowledge is valuable.
