Are there any plans to add Custom field type of Date (real date formatted fields) to JPD?

Atlassian (or anyone else who may know),

JPD custom fields "Date" type fields do not create real date formatted fields as perhaps we all know (they are text and we know the reasoning behind this too), but are there any plans to also be able to add a new custom date field in a true datetime format for any other purpose we may have - like "Required By Date", where we can then sort ideas by this date? (we use the system start date for other purposes - so not a viable workaround).

Just seems such a limitation and very a fundamental thing to want to be able to do.

Could you please elaborate on your use case?

Today, even with the current formatting, you can pick a certain date and then sort ideas by this date.

Is there something different/additional that you'd like to be able to achieve?

Hi @David Laine

Short answer: you may need to submit that as a feedback / suggestion, or contact the support team to ask directly.

When the JPD team posted about their roadmap, I asked them about the "global fields" item and if they were planning on adding other field types such as dates.  There was no concrete answer about the specific, additional fields they might add.
