Sourcetree windows not responding with magento project

Question

I've tried to create a repository for my magento project (fresh deployment), but after first commit, Sourcetree is not responding and nothing changed after at least 1 hour (then I have to force shutdown it)

Now each time I open Sourcetree, same thing happens over and over.

How can I fix this?

I suspect this is because there is a very large initial commit.

Unfortunately SourceTree has a performance problem viewing the Log/History for a large commit. We are currently working on a fix for it.
