This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Clone a repository

Hi, this is distinctly NOT useful to an intermediate user who's using a Windows box and just starting to learn about git. Can't you just provide a BUTTON which says "download" ... and this downloads the repo in question? I've vaguely heard of the **Linux** command ssh. By assuming everyone is using Linux, surely a very odd assumption, you actually make access to your repos MUCH MUCH harder for the less IT-savvy individual, most of whom will be using Windows. Is this intentional?

Actually there is button that says "download":

You can also download Git client like tortoise git. Than, you'll have clone repository under context menu in windows.

ssh is not a linux command. It's a standard and widely used secured protocol. The assumption in the document is that you have access to a command line and a minimal secure connection of some sort.

Most unix like systems include one or more ssh clients (and often ssh servers) because it's pretty useful. There are plenty of windows clients around, but 99% of the time, you'll find a recommendation for "Putty".

Bitbucket offers integration with SourceTree, Atlassian's own git-client tool. You can leverage this to get your 'download' button as you ask for.

Thanks... yes, I tried to get to grips with that tool, only to find myself totally discombobulated... as I say, a simple button to download a repo would just ... be helpful!

Thanks... I still don't understand how to use that little box on the right ... and I still think a "download/clone" button, as in Github, would just be helpful... anyway I managed to get my file in the end yesterday, somehow.

The thing about this sort of thing is, yes, eventually one has to get to grip with "proper" use of an app, a tool or, in this case, a repository-of-repositories ... but it doesn't hurt to give simple, intuitive buttons/commands/tools for someone who's stumbled across it in connection with something else which they're currently trying to learn...

Yes, thanks... that was the route I have now found. But the first time I tried that for some reason it seemed to lead me somewhere else... All good now!
