What is your #1 feature request for Confluence Whiteboards?

Dave Mathijs

I'm positively surprised about the possibilities of Confluence Whiteboards compared to competing products and I'm still discovering all ins and outs.

My feature request would be if a mobile version is on the roadmap (f.e. for iPad with more touch controls).

My Number 1 feature request is to change the licensing for the standard licensing tier - at the moment the restrictions and the way this is handled means we will not be adopting Whiteboards at all until this is improved.

Zaid Smadi_njnq2v

Mine would be Anonymous/private mode where all edits and cursers would be hidden if it is toggled on

Rosivatz Kurt

Mine is a freehand drawing tool like a pen or whiteboard marker.

In my opinion that's the most basic functionality every other whiteboard application has (see Microsoft Whiteboard, Miro, Mural etc.). So I can't understand why that's not there and not even on a roadmap.

@Dave Mathijs long time no speak!

I'd love to see a more extensive library of shapes to be able to create flowcharts and org charts in the whiteboard.

After reading a user question last week, I'd also like to see anchor functionality within a whiteboard where a shortcut can be inserted that would take you to another card/area of the whiteboard when clicked, without opening the whiteboard in another window.

Tables. I really would love to have a table feature, particularly one where you can drag/drop to move columns.

Barbara Szczesniak

Yes, the 3 whiteboards per person and inability/confusion about the ability to change which 3 are active is a big issue for me.

I suppose we could deal with the 3 active boards per person if we had the ability to make an older board active when we need to update it.

Kirsten Coppo

Mine is voting feature! I have to go back to Lucid when I need it.

I have to say that it has been a pain for our organisation as we are migrating between another solution and this one. The fact I didn't find out that it picks a board to make read only and you can't change it was discovered after spending considerable time setting up a retro board that was then the first pick. Had to copy and paste it into a new one which made another read only.

Some tools for managing this and bumping the number of trial boards to five would make this acceptable I think. You need the option to try things in a live situation to gauge it's usefulness.

Helen C

Mine would be a migration tool that can bulk or one by one migrate live boards from miro - single board static page only is no use so is a deal breaker to adoption for us

Ronald L Thomas

Object Grouping is really necessary when designing useful boards so that you can group, move resize a bunch of different objects at the same time.

Jörg_cha3nm

My number one feature request would be the possibility to set a frame as an initial view a if in edit mode and an initial view if embedded in a confluence page.

When exporting a Confluence Whiteboard as a PDF, the hyperlinks on the board are not Clickable. Infact I can't even select and copy the plain text. It's not an OCR enabled PDF. This is a bug in my opinion and should be prioritized instead of other good-to-have features.

Mine would be more control over the routing of lines between shapes. Miro does this very well, and I have a hard time asking users to move whilst it is done so poorly in Whiteboards.

Need to be able to connect lines to any point on a shape, with snapping to more than just center of the shape.
Need to be able to add more bending points to a line.
Need to be able to add 'hops' when crossing lines.
Need to have an optional curved line for more flowing diagrams.

James Rickards _SN_

Seems this is now in the product.

multi resizing of whiteboard elements

Mattias Hallqvist_khrc00

This @Dave Mathijs ! 👆

When you have a lot of stuff on your board and want to organize it.
NOT being able to resize multiple elements many times prevents you from organizing at all cause it would be so much more time consuming.

Tables !

and imported miros are sometimes huge the ability to fit to the screen for those would be good it has gotten better but is causing heaches

Rosivatz Kurt

I just noticed that freehand drawing is now finally possible.

Helen C

The last improvement to the zoom function has pretty much solved this for us thanks product team - just really need tables now

hayato yamazaki

I completely agreed with this and when I conveyed my request to the support desk, they created a ticket to improve the functionality.

[CONFCLOUD-83621] Enhance Line Snapping in Confluence Whiteboards: Allow More Connection Points and Arbitrary Snapping Locations - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.

I'd really like to use whiteboards for architecture diagrams. Here's what would make it a wonderful tool:

1. More shapes and ability to import our own shapes into custom librairies (C4 model for example)

2. The possibility to have different levels in the same diagram. I'd like to be able to zoom in on an application component and suddenly you enter it's own diagram. I see it as being able to select a zone in a overcomplex diagram and set it to convert to a single icon when zooming out to a configurable amount of zoom. That would enable us to connect multiple dependent architectures in a single diagram, while also providing a simple overview of the global architecture, alongside a simple navigation between components.

James Rickards _SN_

I'd like that too, but I don't expect we'll get it.

From what I recall, a whiteboard is not intended to be a replacement for proper technical diagraming tooling like Plant UML or the Lucid Suite.

Personally, I'd love more support to embed a reference to a PlantUML file located in a GIT repository into the Whiteboard. That way we can keep the file for diagrams alongside the source code where they won't get lost to time. And being plain text, Generative AI can also be used to produce/update the diagrams via natural language prompting.
