Product Goal, Sprint Goal, DoD

Stefano Berretta

Hi everyone,

As a Scrum Master I take care that Product Goal, Sprint Goal and DoD are always visibile to the Team.

Jira has a place for sharing the Sprint Goal, but I can't find how to share the Product Goal and DoD.

Have you any suggestion about it?
Am I missing something?

I am new to Jira, please excuse me if the question has been already posted.

Thank you

You can create Epics to represent product goals, and assign epics to tickets to track product goal progress. An epic itself a ticker which can be broken down into a number of smaller stories/tasks

Stefano Berretta

Ok great, I will try that.

Thank you

And about Definition of Done?

Niranjan V

DOD (Definition of Done) is like a To-Dos of a particular task or ticket,

Say for example:

You have a ticket -> "create new sales filter component for your website"

DOD for this task will be like:

get design from PO/Designer
create filter,
do testing for the feature,
complete the code reviews,
etc..,

If all these things are completed, the DOD can be referred as accomplished.

Basically every tickets should have DOD, because a big tasks can be taken as multiple tickets, so you can split that big work as DODs so that you can provide DODs for all tickets to complete it,

example:

for the same ticket

"create new sales filter component for your website - phase 1"

DOD can be:

1.) get design from PO

and then, if that DOD is done, next follow up ticket can be taken as

"create new sales filter component for your website - phase 2"

DOD:

2.) finish development

and then, if that DOD is done, next follow up ticket can be taken as

"create new sales filter component for your website - phase 3"

DOD:

2.) finish testing

Stefano Berretta

Thank you for your explanation.

Yes, my team is doing something like that. During planning or refinement every ticket is decomposed in tasks. A subset of them are about quality assurance.

In other words, the Team has established a set of requirements that must be accomplished (or a set of tasks that have to be performed, if you wish) to declare an increment DONE. That is the DoD. This requirements are appended to the task list of tickets.

My question is: where can we put the DoD so that is made visbile and transparent to be sure that every Team member is aware of it during Planning and Refinement and Retrospective?
