When an issue is linked from an EXISTING Jira epic as a delivery ticket how do i get it to copy

the value of the field squad into the idea ticket? I want an automation where as i add delivery tickets the squad field on the idea automatically populates with the list of squads involved. 

 

I have not been able to get it to work for more than one squad, i can add the first just fine on one ticket but then i add a second delivery ticket with a different squad  it wont add the new squad to the existing list. I have add to existing values turned on in the automation.

I might've had a similar problem, LMK if this helps:

Which field does it go to in JPD? Is it a multi-value field that you created? Do you have all the squads as existing values in the multi-value field?

My similar problem was with automating "Organizations" field from Jira Service Management to "Key customers" field in JPD.

I found out that JPD doesn't support automatically adding values to a multi-value field if they don't already exist in the multi-value choices - so you have to have all the options for "squads" listed in your JPD and then it should work with the "update" and "add" features in advanced field editing automations. 

(I think that's a bad limitation and it hurts these automation flows, I still don't have a solution for this flow - but that's the answer that I got)
